A day at the Kameha Spa Powerhouse at the Kameha Grand Bonn – a beautiful infinity pool, an endless view of the landscape, ships cruising before my eyes – plus a terrace with a view into the distance. 30°C, the sun still intense in the early evening. I lie half under a parasol, over my Samsung S6 smartphone I listen to my current vacation hits. The bikini dries in a few minutes and the water temperature is also above 28°C. Peace, a light breeze, close your eyes and enjoy the time out.
If you didn’t see the skyscrapers on the skyline out of the corner of your eye, the Siebengebirge and the Drachenfels on the other side, you might think you’re spending your vacation in Greece, the Balearic Islands or the Caribbean.
But it is Bonn and the Powerhouse at the Kameha Spa of the Kameha Grand Hotel, read directly on the Rhine. The view from the infinity pool into the sunset on the Rhine gorgeous, plus cozy lounge furniture and ample space for relaxation. This is how I imagine the opportunity as a hotel guest, but especially as a day guest.
Simply escape from everyday life for a few hours, use the spa and wellness area of the Kameha Powerhouse, let myself be cared for with gentle massages and treatments, and simply let my soul dangle.
While the third floor of the Kameha Spa’s Powerhouse features the infinity pool, changing rooms, treatment rooms, and plenty of seating and relaxation furniture, the upper (fourth) floor is designed primarily for active guests – a perfectly equipped gym with plenty of cardio equipment as well as a variety of weights, plus a large terrace with additional lounging options.
A great advantage for hotel guests is that the fitness area is available to hotel guests 24 hours a day and is thus also perfect for guests like me, who like to go on the cross trainer for an hour at midnight or work out in the quiet of the gym at night (like me 🙂 ).
Choice of massages and treatments – Kameha Spa Powerhouse
For me, a key factor in good hotels and spa areas are the treatments and massages. If you often sit in front of the laptop all day, spend time on the plane, train or in the car, you notice the tensions after a short time and know in the long run to appreciate good massages and here my choice is always quite different.
At the Kameha Spa Powerhouse there is a wide selection of pampering programs, such as Lomi Lomi Nui massage, hot stone massage, a full body relaxation massage, an Ayurvedic Mukabhyanga head and neck massage or an Abhyanga massage – of course with products from Ligne St. Barth.
I opted for a traditional full body massage that evening and had the focus placed on the shoulder, neck and back area and you can quickly tell if the person is just doing it on the side or has learned it and comes from the medical field. I was able to relax wonderfully during my full body massage in the Powerhouse and also felt very well treated afterwards.
A special feature at the Kameha Spa are the spa workshops led by physiotherapist Bernd Leiendecker, which are offered on a regular basis and are also a good gift. In the workshop you can learn the most important massage techniques from classical massage, Lomi Lomi Nui and foot reflexology with your partner or best friend. Maybe I’ll take a look at the program during one of my next visits to the Kameha Spa Powerhouse.
CONCLUSION – Kameha Spa Powerhouse Bonn – at the Kameha Grand Hotel
The Spa Powerhouse at the Kameha Grand Hotel Bonn offers everything a hotel guest could want for a relaxing stay. A great pool with a length of 15 meters and great views of the Rhine and the city of Bonn, a spacious gym (open 24 hours), as well as a large selection of seating and lounging options and very pleasant spa treatments, with extremely friendly and helpful staff.
It is perfect for a time-out as a hotel guest, but also especially as a day guest from the Rhineland and Siegerland – just switch off for a few hours with your best friend, let yourself be spoiled by small meals and snacks.
Afterwards, you can head back home invigorated or finish off the evening with delicious sushi on the fifth floor, in Yunico – the fine dining restaurant of the Kameha Grand Hotel Bonn.
I will definitely be back to enjoy the sunset again. See you soon from the Kameha Spa Powerhouse or maybe from Yunico. 🙂
