Bonjour are the first words you hear when you walk past the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and enter the new building, the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera at Opernplatz 16. It looks modern and stylish and yet very homely as soon as you enter. I’m a guest at the new Sofitel Frankfurt Opera, and getting out of the limo that picked me up from the airport, it hardly seems like a hotel. Instead of a high atrium and large open spaces, the new luxury hotel greets me with a direct feel-good atmosphere.

When you spend over 250 nights a year in hotels, it’s hard to have any surprises left, but I had imagined my first steps into the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera to be quite different.

When you enter the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera hotel through the revolving door, you also leave a piece of Frankfurt and the pulsating metropolis. It becomes quiet, it becomes pleasant and you feel you have arrived directly.

In the entrance area, two small spiral staircases that lead to the second floor, on the right side, two cozy desks for the concierge with his numerous excursion tips and behind them once again Guest Relations, who were responsible for me and my stay.

As soon as I left the revolving door, I heard the friendly “Bonjour” again and immediately was asked if I needed help with the luggage and kindly accompanied me to the checkin, which is located on the left side from the entrance.

Friendly, caring and above all pleasantly discreet. It seems individualized to the guest, no forms frantically pushed across the reception desk, but caring and very attentive. This is how I like to check into a hotel and look forward to my stay.

On the way to my beautiful corner Junior suite noticed the first special feature directly – you select the desired floor at the elevator and hold the room card in front and the elevator goes exclusively to this floor. Perfectly solved and a nice safety aspect.

Rooms and suites – the perfect view at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera.

The rooms of the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera have a size of 35-50sqm and are equipped with the latest technology and many loving details. Of course, the “MyBed” must not be missing in all rooms and suites, which promises a dreamlike sleeping comfort.

I can only confirm it and did not want to do without the dreamlike bed and get up on any of the days during my stay. There are simply hotels where you can especially enjoy the comfortable beds, like to turn over once again and simply enjoy the weekend.

As soon as you entered the corner junior suite, you noticed the special look. Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors across the entire width of the suite, which have directly invited to go to the surrounding terrace.

From the bed there is a direct view of the Commerzbank Tower, next to it the other buildings of the Frankfurt skyline. Sitting on the terrace in summer, enjoying the evening and the setting sun – is simply a dream.

But the other suites at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera luxury hotel in Frankfurt, which is very well booked at all times, also have many highlights and yet always have a soothing décor. I simply like it on my travels when one feels “arrived”. The room should radiate peace and relaxation, have a large and bright bathroom, as well as the latest technology.

However, in addition to the regular suites and large rooms, the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera has a very special highlight with an incredible view. The presidential suite with a size of 120sqm offers a perfect outdoor terrace, with an unrestricted view of the Frankfurt skyline.

Here you can end the evening, enjoy the view of the Alte Oper or even use the space for an evening event. Certainly, the place would also be perfect for a summer breakfast on your own terrace, but I still prefer to choose breakfast in bed with a pleasant in-room dining service.

Inroom Dining, Schönemann Restaurant and Bar Lili

When you arrive late at Frankfurt Airport in the evening, then get a friendly welcome at the hotel, you naturally enjoy having breakfast delivered to your room all the more.

I also tried the great service during my stay at the hotel and find it very pleasant at Sofitel that much emphasis is also placed on the appearance. The breakfast is lovingly designed, with many delicious dishes. You simply start the day in a good mood.

What always comes across very positively to me is the possibility of choosing the newspapers. While in many hotels only German newspapers are delivered, the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera also offers English newspapers or French newspapers! Perfect!

The ingredients at breakfast, as to be expected in a five star hotel, of course very fresh and well selected, whether at the Inroom breakfast or also in the restaurant Schönemann. The restaurant I have already presented to you a few weeks ago in detail in the restaurant report on the food blog with a nice dinner.

As with the lobby, the Schönemann restaurant, which can be entered both from Opernplatz and through the hotel, immediately creates a feel-good atmosphere. You notice in every corner of the hotel, a thoughtful concept, coordinated interior and the French way of life.

You have arrived, you want to enjoy and let the day begin slowly. The staff also in the restaurant Schoenemann very concerned and attentive and confirm the impression that I can already enjoy at dinner.

A large selection of coffee specialties and teas, plus a large selection of dishes that are freshly prepared for the guest and taste fantastic. If you can’t spend your days in Paris eating fresh crêpes, you can still enjoy French cuisine in a special way.

I was glad to have brought enough time each for dinner, as well as for breakfast and to be able to enjoy the view of the “Old Opera” and the skyline.

Wellness, fitness and relaxation – SoSpa at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera

After a fantastic breakfast in bed or in the restaurant, a shopping trip in the adjacent Goethestraße with its many designer boutiques, you can enjoy the afternoon perfectly with a wellness treatment.

That’s what I did and enjoyed the time in the new SO SPA area.

If you want to spend a luxury weekend in Frankfurt, a visit to the spa is an absolute must for me. As soon as you enter the So Spa in the basement of the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera Hotel, you realize that great importance is attached to rest and relaxation.

The guest is absolutely in the center and it is looked together, which treatment and which application could be perfect. Different applications are suggested and explained and is completely open to the wishes of the guest.

After my extensive shopping spree in downtown Frankfurt, I opted for a combination of facial and massage. Anyone who is on the road a lot, often sitting in the train or on the plane, will know the problems. The skin is dry, the facial skin irritated and the shoulders tense.

Perfect, if you can then just switch off and let the staff pamper you and get helpful tips on how to counteract the tensions in everyday life.

Meeting rooms at the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera

Frankfurt is known as a trade fair city and for many events and functions. I myself have been to Frankfurt countless times, whether for the book fair, the IAA or IMEX and have given countless talks and workshops for companies and bloggers in Frankfurt.

The meeting rooms are usually equipped with little daylight, the boardrooms often small and without daylight. All the more pleased I am then during discovery tours when you find lovingly designed spaces that are on the one hand original and individually designed, but also offer sufficient combination possibilities for large events.

It is impressive when you walk through the lobby and already have the feeling of a “living room” and then on the second floor you can look out into the park and on the other side you see the lovingly laid tables for the evening event.

The French “Art de Vivre” is also lived here and I longed to return for the first time in a long time to give a workshop and talk about social media and SEO. I would certainly feel at home here again.

Conclusion – Sofitel Frankfurt Opera Hotel

The luxury hotel Sofitel Frankfurt Opera was already considered shortly after the opening, as “THE” new luxury hotel in Frankfurt, which you should have seen once. I can confirm this impression – unreservedly – and felt absolutely in good hands from the first to the last minute.

There are few hotels that have fascinated me in recent years, on the one hand, by special architecture, beautiful furnishings and good service and, on the other hand, are absolutely conveniently located in a metropolis.

The Sofitel Frankfurt Opera succeeds in creating an oasis, of peace, relaxation and yet short distances with a special touch of home atmosphere and hospitality.

A special thanks throughout my stay to the staff from all areas, with whom I was in direct or indirect contact and who perfectly embodied the French way of life and charm.

I am absolutely sure it will not have been my last visit to the Sofitel Frankfurt Opera and certainly not the last visit to a property of the Sofitel chain.
