It was February 14, 2014 when I got my first Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl. Almost exactly ten years ago and after all this time it is still one of my favorites from Louis Vuitton. I now own different versions of the famous luxury designer scarves and today I would like to write you a little long-term review of my first Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl.

Louis Vuitton luxury designer

Louis Vuitton belongs to the absolute luxury designer class and has always had a particularly impressive reputation. From elegant classics to modern designer pieces, everyone will find their favorite. Every age group has its favorite designs and will find what they are looking for here.

At the moment, you can see a lot of young people queuing in front of the stores, but I will come back to the topic of influencers and TikTok at a later date.

Of course, Louis Vuitton handbags are particularly popular with female customers. However, the leap from a Zara or Esprit handbag to a Michael Kors handbag to a Louis Vuitton handbag is a big one – both financially and in terms of standing.

So if you want to dip your toes into the luxury designer market, you might be looking for something smaller than the smallest or cheapest Louis Vuitton handbag to start with.

My first designer handbag from Louis Vuitton was the Speedy 30, however my first designer piece from Louis Vuitton was my scarf, the Monogram Denim shawl.

Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl (M71378)

I even chose the scarf online back then and didn’t buy it in a store. I remember being a little unsure at the time whether the scarf would be what I imagined it would be. Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl almost sounded more like a thick material than a soft shawl to me.

In the pictures in the online store, however, the scarf looked very elegant and classic. I was excited when I received the package from Louis Vuitton for Valentine’s Day. Ten years ago, Louis Vuitton’s packaging and boxes were still dark brown. Today, the boxes and carrier bags are orange with dark blue lettering.

It felt very classy and luxurious as soon as I unpacked it. Back then, the Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl was also packed in a beige protective bag with lettering. The result was a beautiful, soft, silky, large scarf.

At the time, I would have preferred a completely black scarf with white logos, but this gray-looking scarf was the closest match to black.

The color specification of the denim scarf is black, but the scarf looks rather gray, or dark gray and silver. Fortunately, the scarf does not feel like jeans, but rather like a mixture of silk and wool. The iconic Monogram print is exactly what I wanted.

Use of the Louis Vuitton scarf

I was immediately impressed and have worn the scarf extremely often since that day. I wear it as a scarf with a long black wool coat and various jackets, as well as casually over a white blouse or dress. Basically, this scarf goes with all my outfits.

I like to wear the scarf on both sides – the front is dark gray with silver logos, the back is silver with dark gray logos. Even though the back is a mirror image of the LV logos, I don’t find it distracting at all. It always depends on my outfit which side I wear. The silver side often looks a bit friendlier.

However, the Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl is not only suitable for visual reasons, it also keeps you nice and warm. You can wear it as a scarf or drape it loosely over your shoulders. This Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl is even suitable as a small blanket, measuring 139cm x 139cm.

I didn’t think I would use this luxurious scarf so often, but I really wouldn’t have wanted to be without it. In summer, however, this Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl is a little too warm for me. Then I prefer to wear my thinner silk scarf from Louis Vuitton in similar colors.

Louis Vuitton Classic and Louis Vuitton Evermore shawls

I now own the Louis Vuitton Monogram Classic shawl in all black (very elegant and simple) and also in pearl gray (light and friendly). The silky, shiny Classic scarves are not as thick and warming as the Denim scarves. That’s why I prefer to use the Classic scarves in summer, as they simply feel a little cooler on my sensitive neck.

Compared to the Louis Vuitton Evermore shawls, I miss the small fringes on these, which for me are part and parcel of these large shawls. The rolled edges of the Evermore scarves seem a bit too plain to me, but maybe I’m just more used to my other scarves.

Conclusion – Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim shawl

The scarf has served me very well to this day and still looks great. A few small threads have come loose in the 10 years, but the scarf has also had to be with me on many trips and has fought (and won) a few zippers.

Overall, I am still very happy with the scarf and would buy it again and again. I still wear my first designer piece from Louis Vuitton today. The design of this classic has not changed in the last 10 years – there are just more colors to choose from.

That speaks for itself, even if I sometimes love to wear exclusive pieces, it shows a certain consistency in the Louis Vuitton line. That’s why some Louis Vuitton styles are absolute classics and icons.

I can therefore recommend Louis Vuitton scarves to you, but in the meantime I have also developed a taste for other luxury designers and already have my eye on a new scarf…
