Flight experience in the Qatar Airways Qsuite as a luxury suite on the route QR060 Munich-Doha. Qatar Airways Qsuite – the new dimension of flying? What is the experience like in the Qatar Airways Qsuite? Which routes can you already fly with Qatar Airways Qsuite? Is Qatar Airways Business Class better than First Class on many other airlines? How does the Qatar immigration process work when arriving in business class on Qatar Airways? How does it feel to fly “backwards” and look at the engines?
These were just a few questions that reached us in a short period of time when we posted about our next flight with Qatar Airways on social media. We took a closer look at Qatar Airways’ Qsuite on flights QR060 from Munich to Doha, as well as QR067 from Doha to Frankfurt.
Luxury above the clouds Qatar Airways Qsuite / QR060 Munich-Doha
Many years ago, if you wanted to fly to Asia or Australia/Oceania, you often chose an Asian airline with a good business class or even first class and changed planes in Asian metropolises. Often there was one connection a day to the Asian metropolises and the transfer times were relatively long at the airport, even if comfortable.
For some years now, however, there has been a much better alternative to these connections, with currently two flights a day from Munich (as well as from Frankfurt). Qatar Airways offers with QR060 and QR058 the direct possibility to fly comfortably in the new Qatar Airways Qsuite from Munich to Doha. We find the departure times very conveniently designed with a 08.40 departure from Munich – arrival in Doha 16.20 or departure at 15.50 and arrival in Doha at 23.30.
The Qatar Airways Qsuite introduced in 2017 and offer the comfort that many airlines only offer in first class, directly to guests in business class. Qatar Airways Qsuite are designed to provide a whole new feeling of relaxation on a flight.
Check-in at Munich Airport and boarding Qatar Airways QR060 – Boeing 777-300ER
The check-in at the business class counter of Qatar Airways in Munich was again very fast and friendly, as with every flight with Qatar Airways.
We were offered a stay in the Oneworld lounge in Munich airport for the flight to Doha, but we decided against it because we already knew the lounge and it was not long before boarding.
Boarding began very punctually in the B area in Terminal 1 at Munich Airport and on that day from Gate B 16.
For guests with a business class ticket, Qatar Airways again had a separate area in the boarding available, as well as a separate access to the aircraft.
The cabin, the Qatar Airways Qsuite seat and entertainment
When you first enter the cabin of the new Qatar Airways aircraft with Qatar Airways Qsuite, you feel directly transported to the first class of many other airlines. The individual suites appear very spacious, friendly and modern as soon as you enter the aircraft.
The Boeing 777-300ER used by Qatar Airways on the Munich-Doha route was just seven months old and again a good example of a very modern and young fleet. Later, on the rest of the journey, there was also another opportunity to compare it with business class in Qatar Airways’ Boeing 787.
As soon as you enter your own Qatar Airways Qsuite, you realize that it is a completely new and, above all, personal flight experience and can no longer be compared with many other business class offerings. As a business class guest, you have your privacy and can enjoy the flight individually.
Where many airlines offer 2-2-2 or even 2-3-2 seating in business class on the same type of aircraft, Qatar Airways chooses 1-2-1 seating. A whole new travel experience and ample space.
Seating experience Qatar Airways Qsuite
The Qatar Airways Qsuite are located in the direction of flight and also against the direction of flight and at first glance a new experience and a bit of a change.
Business Class on the Boeing 777-300ER has a total of 48 Qsuites (and 312 economy seats).
Due to the already very spacious design of the cabin, as well as your own Qsuite, you immediately have a feeling of freedom and relaxation, and with your own door, which can be locked at any time (except during takeoff and landing) and can be equipped with a Do-Not-Disturb sign, you are in your own world. The perfect place for a relaxing flight or productive work time preparing for the next meeting.
At the same time, Qatar Airways Qsuites in the middle have been designed so that you can combine four Qsuites into one area and have the four passengers look at each other and also hold meetings.
Alternatively, the center seats are popular with families with children, so you have plenty of room but can still have meals together. In that case, the center seats and screens are simply pushed to the side respectively.
The seats in the Qsuite are absolutely comfortable and very pleasant even on long-haul flights. Of course, the seat can be converted into a flat bed with a 180° reclining surface. The friendly Qatar Airways flight attendants will then prepare the seat as a bed with blankets and pillows accordingly upon request.
Inside the Qatar Airways Qsuite, there are ample opportunities to store one’s personal belongings for the flight and to make the suite comfortable.
The seats have a length of 200cm and a seat width of 55cm and are provided with the typical interior of Qatar Airways. It looks friendly and relaxing and above all very clean.
Opposite the seat was again generous screen, on the side were all the controls for the seat positions, as well as the lighting attached and very easy to reach. The table is mounted below the TV and can be extended accordingly.
In addition to a cozy blanket and a comfortable pillow, the amenity kit was again on the seat. On the flight from Munich to Doha, the comfortable boxes with zippers and high-quality cosmetic products were again provided. On the onward flight, there were then special amenity kits, due to the national holiday in Qatar.
If the seat is placed opposite the direction of flight, special attention should be given to the safety instructions once again, as the positions are slightly different and you should familiarize yourself with them.
Relaxing in the Qatar Airways Qsuite
After I had made myself comfortable in my Qatar Airways Qsuite, I was once again directly addressed by the friendly flight attendant and asked whether I was already familiar with the Qsuite and she would be happy to give me a few more hints and also tips on staying in my suite and highlight the special features. A very nice and friendly offer.
Even before takeoff via runway 08R in Munich, you got a feeling of peace and privacy. It gave a new definition and standard to the feeling of flying, especially on a long haul. You were completely individual on your own flight to Doha and not a passenger in a beautifully designed business class or first class with some other people.
It is always fascinating for me to experience how attentive the flight attendants are on board and immediately offer themselves in a helpful and friendly way to make the flight even more pleasant for the guest.
As soon as you have moved your seat back a bit after dinner, you are immediately asked if you would like to sleep for a few hours and if the bed could be made accordingly. It is unbelievable (especially compared to other business class offerings from other carriers) how comfortable and relaxing the beds are in the Qatar Airways Qsuite.
Qatar Airways has been known for a very good in-flight entertainment system for years, and also has a nearly 22-inch screen in the Qsuites with the remote control on the side of the console.
The selection of the Oryx One entertainment system again offers a very large selection of a wide variety of movies and classics, as well as offerings in many languages. It’s almost impossible to get bored on Qatar Airways because you can’t find an appropriate movie, series or game. It is very clear and well designed.
While many airlines still use systems that react to the guest’s input with significant delays, Qatar Airways’ system is exemplary and comparable to a modern touchpad in terms of response.
In addition, Qatar Airways offers free Internet access for a limited time to quickly check emails during the flight or to share impressions of the Qatar Airways Qsuite with friends.
There is also an offer for about 10 USD, where the Internet is available for the whole flight at an even higher speed. The speed throughout the flight was very good for an offer on an airplane and allowed directly to share some moments on the social media platforms accordingly.
Food and dining on board – Qatar Airways Qsuite
Qatar Airways offers meals for business class guests at the desired individual time and does not serve together for all guests. I find it very convenient to eat when I want, whether right after takeoff or even just before landing.
Especially if you still had some appointments during the day and arrive late at the airport, you often want to sleep first after takeoff and relax a bit. I myself always belong to the people who choose night flights very gladly and then sleep after a small snack first of all several hours or oversleep the whole flight (as with me from Frankfurt to Singapore).
Qatar Airways always offers a very good selection of exquisite wines and champagnes and welcomed me as a guest also directly before the departure from Munich again with a drink and the offer of a warm or cold towel.
After we approached Austrian airspace and the cruising altitude of 10,000 meters, I was once again greeted in a friendly manner and my wishes for the meal were taken. It’s just nice to be able to figure out when you want to eat and the Qatar Airways flight attendants just always manage to provide exquisite and very quick service.
The tables of the Qatar Airways Qsuite are always lovingly decorated for the meal and even provided with a small candle (with battery). At the latest when you then receive the “greeting from the kitchen” from the flight attendants, as in a good star restaurant, you have completely forgotten that you are in the air on the way to Doha.
For my flight QR060 there was the following food offer on board:
Appetizer
Arabic delicacies with hummus and tabouleh, and Arabic bread.
Grilled shrimp with sweet potatoes, fennel and carrot salad
Main course
Kabsa style chicken – with fragrant rice and cucumber
Classic goulash with spaetzle
Risotto with baby spinach, tomato ragout and parmesan cheese
Dessert
Apple strudel with berries and sauce
Fresh berries with elderflower syrup
Accompanied by a selection of fresh breads and various cheeses
I chose the “Arabic delicacies”, the risotto with baby spinach and the “Fresh berries”.
What I had already noticed since the first flight with Qatar Airways is the very good selection of fresh breads with a special flavor.
Qatar Airways always manages to create and regularly confirm very high standards when it comes to food and beverage offerings, as well as providing excellent service. Especially when the food is now served in the Qatar Airways Qsuite, one has even more the feeling of a good restaurant, instead of a menu above the clouds.
One can enjoy the meal in peace and prepare for the new destination and landing in Doha later.
Overall impression on board and service
This flight QR060 from Munich to Doha has again seamlessly joined the very good overall impression of my experiences with Qatar Airways. From the first contact at the counter in Munich, until leaving the Boeing 777-300ER after landing in Doha at Hamad International Airport, a perfect service was offered and I was able to experience very attentive staff, who gave me as a guest the feeling of being welcome at any time.
The smallest question or even the smallest request was answered immediately or handled directly in a very friendly manner. Exemplary!
What has recently strengthened the overall impression even more positively is the offer of the Qatar Airways Qsuite in many Qatar Airways aircraft. The privacy and tranquility that one is allowed to experience in the Qsuites is at least comparable to what many airlines offer in first class, if not often better.
Qatar Airways Qsuites give travelers a whole new travel feel and experience. Those who fly longer distances, want to relax on board or work in peace will experience the new comfort in Qsuites. It is absolutely understandable why more and more guests, connect to Asia and Australia with a flight with Qatar Airways and want to arrive relaxed.
At the same time, Qatar Airways offers various options for a stopover in Doha, which I also made use of and was thus able to visit the metropolis in the Gulf region for 72 hours.
As positive as the impression on board with Qsuites and great staff was, as wonderful it went directly after landing, where one was received as a business class passenger directly with a name tag and was accompanied to immigration.
While one should calculate with the regular entry to Doha with a waiting time, one has as a passenger of the business class of Qatar Airways the service in the Al Safwa First Class Lounge, where the formalities are processed immediately and the luggage is brought. This saves waiting times at the baggage carousel, of course, and you receive your documents and your own suitcase in the shortest possible time.
As a passenger, one could now still choose the rich offer of food and drinks or go to the transfers to hotels. The friendly lounge staff then ask if you need a cab, a limousine transfer, or if you want to be picked up and take guests to the appropriate stations. I had a shuttle arranged for me and was given a friendly send-off at the vehicle by Qatar Airways staff.
A perfect last impression of my time on board Qatar Airways on the flight with QR060 from Munich to Doha.
Note: I chose the flight Qatar Airways QR067 for the return flight and can only confirm the impressions also on the way back. Again, one experiences an excellent product, a great service and an exemplary handling at the airport in Doha, as well as on board Qatar Airways.
Final CONCLUSION: With the Qsuites, Qatar Airways has created a new standard and a new service in business class that is far superior to the competition and therefore represents a very clear recommendation for relaxed travel for all passengers.
