Experience at Hilton Munich Airport Hotel at Munich Airporthotel. Which airport hotel should I choose in Munich? We get this question about the best hotel at the airport relatively often from friends and family, especially if you live in Munich yourself or just want to visit friends in the city briefly for Oktoberfest.
Due to the good connection of the suburban trains in Munich to the airport, it is relatively easy to get into the city and out of the airport. But even if you live in Munich, you need an airport hotel more often than you think – especially if the departure is once again very early and you do not want to take your own car.
Munich Airport Hotel – Arrival
For years, the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel has been one of the hotels where we stay several times a year and spend the time until departure in a relaxed way. In addition, there is currently, in our opinion, the best hotel loyalty program currently on the market.

As a Diamond member of Hilton Honors, one is pleased about a very simple booking possibility, as well as a reliable administration of bonus points and bonus nights.
The recognition in all Hilton hotels works exemplary and in addition there are also directly from registration points credits which one can redeem for upgrades or free rooms. So if you travel the world regularly, the Hilton Honors program is a great way to save money and find good hotels around the world to boot.
In addition to the benefits of being a Hilton Honors member, there are of course many other advantages at the Munich Airport Hotel directly at the terminal that make traveling much easier and, most importantly, a more relaxed start.
Hilton Munich Airport Hotel at the airport
I used the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel last time before I had an early flight with Qatar Airways QR060 from Munich to Doha. The departure time was listed for 08:40 and you could have made it from the south of Munich, but of course the day started much more relaxed that way.
If you choose a trip that lasts perhaps more than three days, the cost of parking your own car at Munich Airport (about 28-38 EUR per day) is quickly equalized and it is much easier.
Appropriately, the Hilton Munich Airport also offers packages directly with Park & Sleep. You can park your car in the garage of the Hilton Hotel and the parking fees for a week or longer are included with the corresponding room rate. These are of course many times cheaper than directly at the Munich airport and that, although you can park directly across from the parking garage P20, which is the perfect connection between both terminals at the Munich airport in my opinion.
During my last stay, I arrived already on Saturday afternoon. The S-Bahns (S1 and S8) in Munich leave every 20 minutes to the airport. The travel time from the main train station is about 35 minutes, so I was able to check into the hotel in a relaxed manner.
Location of the Hilton Munich Airport
During Advent, the outdoor area in front of the hotel between the two terminals T1 and T2 in Munich is transformed into a small winter wonderland and gives a foretaste of the Christmas markets in Munich. In addition, an ice rink invites guests to do a few laps in the special location.
At other times of the year, the area between the terminals also frequently hosts events, such as public viewing events or, for a time, the giant wave, which attracted surfers from all regions and where you could make your own surfing experiences.
The Airport Hotel and Rooms
Many sports fans in Germany already know the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel through Sport1’s weekly “Doppelpass.” Every Sunday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., they talk about the Bundesliga soccer league. In keeping with this, the Hilton Hotel Munich Airport also repeatedly offers various Bundesliga packages, with a stadium visit to the Allianz Arena, a visit to the Doppelpass and an overnight stay.
Not only for sports fans a great idea to come to the almost always sold out home games of FC Bayern Munich. If one has in addition still a perfect hotel and relaxed after the play back into the hotel can drive, one can make oneself a joy with a beautiful weekend or also these weekend packages as coupons to sport fans e.g. to the birthday or to Christmas give away.
Thus it is for many guests of the hotel also always directly a reunion, if one enters the atrium of the hotel, which one already knows from the television.
History of the Hilton Munich Airport
The hotel at Munich Airport was already opened in May 1994 and is still considered very modern with the atrium and the design of the public areas and could also have been designed just a few weeks ago.
After the takeover of Hilton Hotels on 01 January 2015, the former Kempinski Hotel was once again expanded in 2017 with an extension, where a combination of Alpine design and high feel-good factor was chosen. Especially if you are a business traveler who spends more than 100 nights frequently (like us) in the hotel, you look forward to clear but warm lines and sufficient workspace.
The Hilton Munich Airport Hotel has 505 rooms and 46 suites, in four different categories.
Connected by the atrium are the hotel’s two wings, which offer views of planes taking off and landing, the garden, the airfield or the atrium. No matter which view you chose again and again, it is always fascinating and you can sit in front of the window for hours and just enjoy the moment.
As usual in a good airport hotel, of course, you don’t hear any outside noise from the planes and you can sleep quite relaxed.
Restaurant and bar at the Hilton Munich Airport
In keeping with the theme of airports and airplanes, the restaurant at the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel was named after “Charles Lindbergh,” the first person to cross the Atlantic in a nonstop flight on May 20-21, 1927. Later, Lindbergh wrote several books about flying and an Atlantic crossing, which also earned him the Pulitzer Prize in 1954.
The airport restaurant is not only open to hotel guests, but is also a good option for lunch or dinner during a longer stay at Munich Airport and a later connecting flight.
In total, the restaurant can accommodate up to 200 people and parties. Regional and Bavarian cuisine is served, with many international dishes interpreted in a modern way by the chef and his team. In the selection of ingredients, the highest value is placed on freshness, as well as using mainly ingredients that come from organic and regional cultivation.
The “Charles Lindbergh Restaurant” is known far beyond Munich for its special evenings and buffets. On Friday evenings, it’s called “Enjoy Europe Culinary” and gives a good impression of Spanish, French, Italian and German cuisine with Alsatian tarte flambée, paella, chicken souvlaki to traditional Kaiserschmarren.
Route 66 – Hilton Munich Airport
Since I stayed at the Hilton Munich Airport this time on Saturday, I was also able to get in the mood for America and follow “Route 66”. Already in the run-up to the restaurant you can see the lovely decoration in the atrium with big cacti and the typical road signs.
In addition, of course, a typical “hot dog stand”, as you can find it in New York on every street corner, as well as various stands with meat and fish dishes, small burgers and various salads.
With the dessert also the reference to the USA and America is exactly kept and beside many desserts the typically American popcorn may not be missing, which pulls from the smell into the lobby of the hotel.
In keeping with this, the tables are decorated in the national colors of Europe (Friday) or, as with the American buffet, with small USA flags and American decorations on Saturday evening.
Breakfast at the Hilton Munich Airport
Especially for guests who spend the weekend at the Hilton Munich Airport at Munich Airport and want to sleep in late, there is also the “Sunday brunch” known beyond the city limits. A wide selection of fresh bread and rolls, many hot dishes and a large selection of sausages and cheeses are served, as well as beautiful desserts. In addition, the Charles Lindbergh Restaurant serves, for example, crème brûlée, chocolate mousse and small cakes and muffins.
What you should definitely try at breakfast at the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel is the fruit bread, which is always freshly prepared and tastes wonderful with different types of cheese.
Regardless of whether you are a hotel guest or just want to spend the time until your flight in a nicer ambience, the Night Flight Bar invites you to take a nice break. In the middle of the atrium, the famous bar is surrounded by 18-meter high palm trees and serves not only cocktails and wine, but also many snacks, such as soups, salads, pizza and Bavarian delicacies.
It’s a great place to sit down for a business lunch, catch up before the next flight, or wind down after a busy meeting.
Meeting rooms and lounge
When you enter the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel, you would not expect that in addition to the large selection of rooms, the good restaurant and bar, there is also a very good and, above all, large range of events.
The Hilton Hotel is one of the best conference hotels in Bavaria, and with a range of over 30 event rooms, it has the right size room for almost any meeting.
Regardless of whether a small boardroom for six guests is needed or an event has 1000 guests, the team from the hotel is precisely attuned to this and plans the appropriate seating, catering and, if desired, the appropriate rooms together with the conference participants.
In addition, the Hilton Munich Airport Hotel also offers the option of using the atrium for a special reception, such as an anniversary or a wedding, and then switching back to the event rooms later.
From the beginning of the year, the good meeting offer will also be supplemented with its own club lounge, which is especially popular with business travelers and where you can check your emails once again, prepare for a meeting or just relax and enjoy a coffee.
As a Hilton Honors Diamond Member myself, I use the offer very regularly in various cities where there is a Hilton hotel and find it very relaxing. For me personally, I always prefer hotels with a club lounge, hotels without a club lounge and the Hilton Hotel at Munich Airport has another big advantage over other hotels.
Spa & Wellness – Hilton Munich Airport Hotel
There is hardly any hotel at the airport where the spa and fitness area is so large and so well equipped. While many other hotels at airports simply remove swimming pools and turn them into a small meeting room, the Hilton Hotel in Munich attaches great importance to the relaxation of guests before departure or after the return flight.
The Hilton Hotel has a 17-meter swimming pool, a sauna and steam room, and a very well-equipped fitness center available to guests 24 hours a day. I know it from my own travels, when you wake up early due to the time difference and want to go to the gym, that these are often still closed. All the nicer when a hotel here thinks about the well-being of all guests in all time zones and makes these offers available all day.
In addition, there is also a wide selection of massages in the spa area of the Hilton Munich Airport, which are optimized especially for frequent travelers and frequent flyers. The staff at the spa use only high-quality oils and creams and are very familiar with the “problem areas” in guests who have to sit for long periods of time.
Even though I used to think I needed a spa in the airport or airport hotel less, it’s almost a good standard for me now. After a 12-hour flight to Asia, I had the opportunity for the first time before a further flight of another 10 hours, to enjoy a massage and the next flight was just relaxing. The body was relaxed and I just felt good. Today, spa visits to airport hotels are part of my fixed program for longer flights.
For this purpose, the Hilton Hotel at Munich Airport has also thought of transfer guests and airport visitors and offers a possibility of access for two hours. Especially if you have a later connecting flight, would like to refresh once or also, as mentioned, treat yourself to a massage, the offer is perfect.
Hilton Munich Airport Hotel – CONCLUSION
The Hilton Munich Airport Hotel completely convinced me again on this visit and I arrived relaxed the next day at my destination in Doha, Qatar.
I had a beautiful corner room and the staff both at check-in and in all areas were very eager and very polite. The entire hotel had left a very clean and well maintained impression.
In addition, the restaurant “Charles Lindbergh” is a nice way to end the evening in peace and quiet and also once to be guided by a theme evening. Very pleasant is in addition that the breakfast in the hotel is already available from 06.00 o’clock and I after I had delivered my suitcase with Qatar Airways, still relaxed breakfast and then recovered and relaxed my journey could start.
I will certainly choose the hotel again for my next early trips, then take a look at the opened Club Lounge and perhaps also use the offer of “Park & Sleep” at Munich Airport from the Hilton Hotel Munich Airport.
Regardless of whether as a guest with an early departure or a late return to Munich, whether as a tourist or businessman for a day in the city of Munich, the good connection to the public transport network and the good location between the two terminals, the Hilton Hotel Munich Airport is always a clear recommendation and I look forward to seeing you again in the coming months.
