Impression of the Hyatt Düsseldorf with harbor and Rhine view at the Medienhafen from the Hyatt Regency. When you’ve lived in Düsseldorf for a long time, it’s always a different relationship with the city and when you come home, you often think about where to stay. While I was packing my suitcases and boxes in Düsseldorf and leaving the most beautiful city in Germany, a lot of things were being built in the Medienhafen in Düsseldorf. This includes a hotel that was already a topic of conversation among frequent travelers during the construction phase.
Modern luxury hotel in Düsseldorf
A perfect location – a perfect view and, with the HYATT Group, a perfect brand. I now had the opportunity to take a look at the HYATT REGENCY DÜSSELDORF hotel for an exclusive weekend trip after all these years.
I already reported a few months ago that for me as a traveler, a lot depends on the “first impression”, as well as the view. Even if the hotel was five minutes further away from the event, I would always choose the perfect view. When you travel a lot, you simply enjoy the vastness and the peace and quiet that is radiated. If I’m put in a small, dark hotel room with only small windows, I can’t be creative.
The location of the Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf hotel couldn’t be better – situated on the peninsula – with a fantastic view. From my room, you can see Düsseldorf Airport in the distance on the left, Düsseldorf’s old town with the Ferris wheel in the middle and the Frank Gehry buildings and modern companies in the Medienhafen on the right … and far on the horizon you can even make out Cologne Cathedral.

A hotel in Düsseldorf’s Medienhafen could not be more centrally located and the terms “exclusivity and luxury” are truly confirmed here. The travel time from the airport or the train station in Düsseldorf is 10-15 minutes, and Düsseldorf’s old town can be reached on foot in about 8-10 minutes.
For me, my visit to the Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf also closed the circle a little. I had one of the best hotel experiences with a fantastic view at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong at the beginning of the blog and it is still one of my absolute favorites today – great views, friendly people and exclusivity. Now I was able to return to a HYATT hotel and take in the new impressions.
If you walk the last few meters to the Hyatt Düsseldorf in Medienhafen, you will notice the building from a distance, two almost identical building complexes (but with a different number of floors), one building housing the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the second building chosen as an office building by prestigious companies.
Directly between the buildings, a large staircase leads up to a gallery and to the remarkable Pebbles – the silver pebble that can be used as an event location and is accessed both from the outside and via the DOX restaurant via a large white staircase.
The special features of the staircase in front of the hotel are not obvious at first glance, but the two-ton staircase can be moved upwards, allowing cars to be brought directly into the hotel’s event location. The roof is a large expanse of water that mirrors the reflections on the floor of the meeting rooms and thus creates the first connection between nature and water, as well as the hotel.
As a guest, you would expect a cool atrium when you walk through the large, high revolving doors, but as soon as you enter the hotel, you feel transported to another world.
The designers from “FG stijl Amsterdam” have succeeded in telling a story in the hotel right from the start. The entrance area is homely and cozy. Lots of seating and a long table directly opposite the entrance door as a place to work, for a small meeting or a nice chat. There is plenty more seating along the walls and plenty of power sockets for laptops and smartphones. Here you immediately notice that the guests’ wishes have been listened to and implemented.
This is also immediately evident in the small market place opposite the front desk. Whether it’s a small coffee from the coffee machine, a small bottle of water or a cold refreshing drink, fruit or other small items, the market place offers guests the opportunity to pick up something quickly – at extremely fair prices (almost like in a supermarket).
The check-in is quick and efficient, but without sacrificing friendliness. This is where you want to arrive, where you want to enter your room and stay for a few days. In addition to the key, I was also given information about the club lounge on the 18th floor with its fantastic view and the opening times for the spa area. I felt like I had arrived again and was reminded of my time in Hong Kong.
Rooms & suites
The Hyatt Regency Hotel Düsseldorf has 303 rooms and suites, which are divided into different categories and offer a lot of space compared to other hotels in the region.
Where many business hotels are only booked by very few guests at the weekend, the Hyatt Düsseldorf has a completely different trend. The demand remains the same and only the guests change slightly. While many business people and media professionals stay at the exclusive luxury hotel on Halsinsel in the Medienhafen during the week, the hotel is chosen by many fashion-conscious couples at the weekend. Düsseldorf is simply the fashion capital of Germany and you can see that in every phase of the hotel.
Of course, not only was the DOX restaurant in the hotel fully booked this weekend, but all 300 rooms were also fully booked again. The hotel is chosen for an exclusive trip and a wonderful weekend in the Rhine metropolis. The hotel’s options are so diverse and perfectly tailored to every guest’s wishes. Whether it’s a luxurious and exclusive weekend in the hotel’s spa area on two floors, a weekend with a dog or a baby – we’ve thought of that too.
The hotel has the V.I.D. (Very Important Dog) program and offers these guests a very special service. From their own dog basket to dog chocolates (specially prepared, of course) and the opportunity to take the dog for a walk around Düsseldorf. In the personal welcome card, the dog is then also told directly where he is allowed to go, that restaurants, etc. are taboo for him, etc., so you can also solve it. – That’s one way to solve it.
In addition to the V.I.D. program, the hotel also offers the V.I.B. (Very Important Baby) program and also provides a special service for guests with small children.
If, like me, you have chosen the Deluxe View room category at the Hyatt Düsseldorf, you will be rewarded with a fantastic view when you enter the room. In the entrance area there is a small checkroom and a separate toilet, at the end of the corridor the first view of the beauty of Düsseldorf and next to it the open bathroom with shower and bathtub, as well as a modern washbasin. Behind it, the large bed, with a small desk and another seating area, directly for the perfect view of the Medienhafen.
What is immediately noticeable about the floor-to-ceiling windows is that you can open them. Double glazing allows you to open some windows about 30 centimeters wide and there is a second pane with a hole in the floor for fresh air. A perfect solution and, as a guest in modern buildings and hotels in particular, it’s nice to be able to decide for yourself whether you want fresh air or not. If the windows are closed, you can hear absolutely nothing of the outside noise from the Rhine and the Medienhafen. A perfect solution!
What is also immediately noticeable in this Deluxe View room – there are plenty of sockets for laptops and smartphones, and an internet cable in the desk has also been thought of and nicely packed in a cloth bag. There is also a Nespresso coffee machine in every room – making guests feel right at home.
Another perfect solution: the rooms with a king-size bed have an open bathroom and light slats in front of the shower, while the rooms with two separate beds also have an enclosed bathroom without windows in the bedroom. So guests are free to choose what they want…
Executive Club Lounge
If you are already familiar with the view from the 9th floor of the Hyatt Düsseldorf into the Medienhafen, it is hard to imagine that this view can be improved upon, but the “Club Lounge” for Hyatt status guests and guests who have booked access to it offers yet another fantastic view from the 18th floor over Düsseldorf to Cologne Cathedral on the horizon.
For me, the “endless expanse” is always reassuring and this is exactly what many of the seating areas are aimed at. Many armchairs positioned directly by the window, a cozy table in between and simply arrive and switch off.
There are also various seating options, from a long table so that you can meet up with friends in the lounge and cozy seating areas, which I have already shown you in the video.
As a guest of the Hyatt Executive Club, guests receive a small breakfast, small snacks during the day and hors d’oeuvres in the evening, as well as fresh drinks throughout the day.
Where many hotels prohibit televisions in the Club Lounge, so that guests go to the bar to watch current sports broadcasts, Hyatt takes the opposite approach and also shows Bundesliga football matches on a large TV on Saturdays, for example. That’s another way of doing it and I think it’s absolutely in keeping with the times. Many guests sit in the lounge anyway and watch international sports broadcasts on their laptops and tablets, so why not offer the lounge directly as a contact and exchange point.
Great and very courteous service, a nice selection of delicacies and even the option of renting a small meeting room with a view. Who wouldn’t want to hold their meeting on the 18th floor with a view over Düsseldorf?
Spa & wellness at the Hyatt
Anyone entering the spa area on the second floor of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Düsseldorf’s Medienhafen will experience and enjoy the exclusivity. Where in many spa and wellness hotels you are often confused by scents, music and colors, the RIVE Spa & Fitness at the Hyatt Hotel takes a completely different approach.
With a size of 495 square meters, the spa area of the Hyatt Düsseldorf offers both hotel guests and day guests a place to go for a nice fitness program or a welcome relaxation in the wet and dry saunas, as well as the whirlpool and the numerous loungers.
Even in the entrance area of the Hyatt Düsseldorf, the spa area has an effect of its own – the walls are clad in coconut shells, with lots of natural stone and untreated wood, straight lines and you immediately notice that the guest is the focus here and can relax. Arrive and enjoy, and that is also the first impression conveyed by the staff. Friendly and eager!
The RIVE Spa & Fitness Club in the Hyatt Düsseldorf has four care brands, with “The Organic Pharmacy”, “Skin Ceuticals” and “MONTEIL” and “SpaRitual”, and offers guests five treatment rooms for perfect relaxation after a stressful day at work or as the destination for a relaxing weekend.
Rarely have I been so tempted to use the fitness area, the equipment in a bright fitness room with a view, the view again of the television tower, the state parliament and of course the Gehry buildings. Here you simply want to do sports and start the day in a healthy way.
Breakfast, Inroom & Dinner
Whether it’s after sport in the Hyatt Düsseldorf Hotel’s Health Club or at the start of a great day – a good breakfast is simply a must for me. On the first day, I let myself be pampered in my room, starting Saturday with breakfast in my bathrobe – simply perfect.
The well-thought-out breakfast in-room menu simply has to be mentioned here. As is often the case, you try to note different wishes and preferences on the cards, but there is not enough space. The Hyatt Düsseldorf has thought things through perfectly, with a separate column for each guest in the room. If guest 1 wants coffee and guest 2 tea, this can be ticked separately, as can muesli and yoghurt, etc. – PERFECT!
However, if you opt for the breakfast with a view on the first floor of the Hyatt Düsseldorf, you will find a large selection of fresh ingredients, plus the option of freshly prepared dishes (tip: “Eggs Benedict”) and again a large selection of muesli and juices. I could spend hours at breakfast and that’s exactly what the hotel offers, on weekends you can have breakfast until 12 noon and enjoy the view. Simply a dream!
A few days ago, I showed you how you can spend an evening in the DOX restaurant, whether with fresh sushi prepared by a sushi master or a sea bream in a salt dough coating from the open kitchen, in my experience report from the DOX restaurant.
Conclusion – Hyatt Düsseldorf Media Harbour Medienhafen
Whether it’s the Hyatt Düsseldorf for breakfast, dinner, a nice spa treatment or a visit to the bar and restaurant via the long catwalk, the HYATT REGENCY DÜSSELDORF is the perfect place to go in Düsseldorf.
As a hotel guest at the Hyatt Düsseldorf, you can enjoy perfect service, friendly and motivated staff and THE perfect view over Düsseldorf. Here, the term hotel in the Medienhafen is taken literally – you are “right in the middle of it all”.
The modern building of the Hyatt Düsseldorf, the special style elements, on the one hand – the homely flair, the warm colors and elements on the other hand – contrasts such as air and water that harmonize perfectly with each other.
There are few hotels that have impressed me so much in the first few days and I am already looking forward to seeing you again at the Hyatt Düsseldorf, whether as an overnight guest or for a nice (non-alcoholic) cocktail with friends.
Starting the Friday evening at the hotel bar of the Hyatt Düsseldorf, watching the fashion-conscious people or dressing up in a flashy way, everything is possible and everything is allowed. For me, the days in Düsseldorf were a blessing. After Milan, I rediscovered my personal fashion city and fell back in love with my former hometown and the Hyatt hotel chain.
What convinced me years ago in Asia with visits to Hong Kong and Bangkok is being continued by the staff at the Hyatt Düsseldorf – and who knows which Hyatt I will visit and introduce in the coming weeks and months – maybe I will actually become a “Hyatt child”.
Thank you for many wonderful insights, special moments at the Hyatt Düsseldorf and for a stylish hotel that is now one of my personal favorites and will certainly welcome me back as a guest in the near future… and maybe you will find me again with a “Berry Berry Cocktail” at the catwalk in the hotel bar of the Hyatt Düsseldorf…
