Visit to Gaudi Park in Barcelona, also known as Park Güell and one of the top sights in Barcelona. Barcelona offers so many beautiful and special sights. Today I would like to introduce you to the next special spot on my Barcelona tour. It is the famous and one of the largest parks in southern Europe, the Park Güell – designed by the world-famous architect and Spaniard – Antoni Gaudi, between 1900 and 1914 for Eusebi Güell.
After I have already shown you the beautiful places on “Las Ramblas” and “Sagrada Família“, this will be my last tourist attraction from Barcelona, but a must visit – the Gaudi Park.
Visit Gaudi Park Barcelona – Park Güell
Gaudi Park has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1984 and is relatively large at 17 hectares. You will find the typical buildings of Antoni Gaudi on the park grounds and the idea was originally to create a commercial housing estate – but without success.
During the construction period and with the hope of selling 60 houses and villas, only 3 houses were sold on the former hill with little vegetation.
The most famous area within Gaudi Park Güell is the huge terrace with an area of over 300 square meters and various seating areas along the 110-meter-long perimeter. From there you have a fantastic view over Barcelona and the place is already easy to reach within the garden.
Impression of Gaudi Park Barcelona – Park Güell
Right at the entrance to Park Güell, you will find a wide staircase to the portico and from there you can access the upper level. Be careful – this place is also very crowded and people will of course try to approach you at every corner, etc.
My recommendation is to take a short tour to the terrace, take a few photos, as there are even more beautiful views over Barcelona in Gaudi Park and then go straight up the various stairs to Casa Martí Trias i Domènech.
If you then go down on the left-hand side, you will also find special buildings with great photo opportunities, plants and memories of Antoni Gaudi, as well as the small Gaudi Museum.
Gaudi Park Güell does not charge an entrance fee and can also be reached by public transport, but you will come out below the park and first have to climb the hill to the entrance. The second option would be to take a cab directly to the entrance and will cost you between 7 and 12 EUR depending on the time of day and the location of your hotel.
Conclusion – Gaudi Park Park Güell
Compared to other viewpoints in the neighborhood of Park Güell, I personally think that the park offers more possibilities and has the more beautiful buildings and houses, especially compared to Park del Guinardo and the ascent is much easier.
What I can recommend to you is not to visit the park in August, as it is said to be completely overcrowded then. During the first two weeks in April, it was also full, due to school groups and tour groups in Barcelona. Have fun with my other sights of Barcelona and the popular Sagrada Familia church by Gaudi.
