Impression of the old town of Alcudia Mallorca in Spain. When I got my invitation from ThomasCook to the Ironman Triathlon in Mallorca, I first thought of the place Alcudia also directly to “tourist stronghold” and large resort, but at the same time, of course, flat beaches, Mediterranean Sea and relaxation. The Alcudia in the north of the Spanish Balearic island, however, has much more to offer, I was then allowed to determine a day later.
Bicycle metropolis – golf courses – long beaches
Already with the journey from Palma to the hotel the large range for cyclists struck me and as I was allowed to experience on the next day, the hotel offers not only the possibility to rent bicycles, like many hotels, but has also its own “Bike parking house” for 1200 bicycles. Many guests also use the hotel as a training camp for tours in the surrounding area and, for example, to the S’Albufera Nature Park and pristine beaches.
That Alcudia and the north is very popular with golfers, I was already known, but that it is almost noticeable if you have neither a golf bag or your own bike in the early or late season with you, I would have thought less. All the nicer to arrive with a group of athletes before the main season.
Tourist metropolis – Historic old town Alcudia mallorca
But the faces that Alcudia Mallorca then showed me were completely different – on the one hand the tourist town where really every wish can be fulfilled, on every corner a supermarket or a fast food store, a restaurant or a bar and then in the historic old town of Alcudia the feeling of being in a different time zone.
The town, which was founded more than 2000 years ago and separates the two bays of Alcudia by a hill, enchants with warm, sand-colored houses, green shutters and the feeling of absolute tranquility.
Friendly people, always a smile ready, small restaurants with great attention to detail, countless photo locations and the certainty that you forget where you actually are. I could have just stayed here for hours and come back every day. Forgotten the tourists at the sea, Alcudia shows the true beauty, the setting sun literally plays with the old town, new colors emerge, behind every little alley a new great moment.
Palma de Mallorca – Alcudia Mallorca – 1 hour driving time
If you are thinking of taking a vacation in Alcudia Mallorca or driving one hour from Palma de Mallorca to the north of the island, take a look at the historic old town and let yourself be enchanted.
I had the great fortune and thanks to the ThomasCooks event, the 70.3 Ironman that evening to be able to take three great photographers and so to discover the city once again in person and of course also to photograph…. it was a really nice experience and I will surely return again.
You can also find many more photos from my trip to Mallorca on Instagram – if you don’t follow me there yet…. Maybe you have now also got a little desire to Mallorca 🙂 – more great information about Mallorca you can find in my blogpost about the top sightseeing of Mallorca.
I would be happy to introduce you to my favorite hotels in Mallorca in detail. From golf hotels, to an old Castillo to pure luxury by the sea. Tomorrow I will show you the beautiful sunrise near Alcudia.
