Time for me to write a personal Thai Airways review – good bye Singapore and welcome Bangkok. Since I had already booked my flights in advance from Germany for the long-haul with Lufthansa or Austrian Airlines, I still needed a connection from Singapore to Bangkok and had visited various flight portals and flight sites, as well as the website of Thai Airways in Germany.

As a Star Alliance Gold member, I naturally prefer to fly with the partner airlines and earn miles in the process. So my first choice was of course Thai Airways and Singapore Airlines. As I didn’t have a fixed flight date yet, it was difficult to plan anything in advance or to take advantage of very favorable discount offers. It was particularly interesting for me to see that the offer from Thai Airways on the German website was almost twice as high as the offer on flight portals or on the international website!

Thai Airways flight Singapore-Bangkok

As the flight time was just under two hours and I didn’t want to work on the plane anyway, a cheap, single ticket in economy class was enough for me. I found a cheap flight – under 100 US$ (approx. 80 EUR), three days before departure, what more could you want?

After my first flight with Thai Airways in 2010 from Frankfurt to Sydney, with a stopover in Bangkok, I always enjoyed the great service and the great hospitality on board – regardless of the booked class (o.k.. – of course I don’t want to forget the exceptional service on my flight to Sydney in First Class 🙂 )… – but you will find everything you need.

This time – fast boarding for your frequent flyers – comfortable seat with enough space for the flight – modern inflight system and a surprise, compared to many US or European airlines, a warm and good lunch. A captain who greets his guests in six languages. (including German! A bit strange on the Singapore-Bangkok route, but nice)

The flight was operated with a Boeing 777 with two classes of seating – an interesting mix of languages and cultures. I can only say that I enjoyed the flight, the view, the good service and the good food.

Thai Airways – Economy Class to Bangkok

My personal “Thai Airways Review” is therefore again consistently positive, especially when you compare the price of the flight (approx. US$ 100) with Singapore Airlines at approx. US$ 230 and other airlines from US$ 300.

My recommendations for flights with Thai Airways (especially from Singapore Changi Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi)

  • Try to book on the airline’s local website or use a flight portal (and compare!)
  • Prices can be relatively cheap even a few days before departure
  • Connections between midday and afternoon are usually particularly cheap (try different combinations!)
  • If you are flying from Singapore Changi Airport and don’t have Star Alliance status, 90 minutes before departure is a bit tight for check-in
  • If you arrive at Bangkok Airport in the afternoon, you don’t need immigration service or baggage service (immigration is very fast, the lines are relatively empty and you wait a maximum of 10 minutes)
  • If you need a limousine service or driver service in Bangkok at Suvarnabhumi airport to get to the hotel – you can book this directly online or opposite the baggage carousel at AOT (fixed price – approx. 10-20% above the cab price – modern cars!)

I hope you enjoyed my little Thai Airways review and you will find a reason to say “Fly Thai” in the future 🙂
