What better way to start a hotel stay than with a wonderful High Tea Ceremony and a view of the lake? Finding inner peace, forgetting the stress of the journey and just switch off and let yourself be pampered. It happened to me similarly in Frankfurt a few weeks ago and it was a whole new way to experience a hotel and the new lobby. A pickup with a very luxurious car at the airport, arriving in twenty minutes at the hotel outside Frankfurt and then first switch off and enjoy – at the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt Gravenbruch in the Bar K-Lounge.
High Tea Ceremony or Afternoon Tea
I was able to experience my first traditional High Tea Ceremony on my big trip to Asia in 2013 and was immediately thrilled. A new experience, the special presentations in Singapore and Bangkok immediately captured me and I began to enjoy these special afternoons, even as a coffee drinker.
What once began as an original Japanese tea ceremony, designed to offer guests the opportunity for contemplation, tranquility and seclusion in simple rooms, was adopted from the 19th century, especially in European grand hotels. A traditional British Afternoon Tea was combined with Asian influences and from then on served to luxurious guests in Europe.
Afternoon Tea at K-Lounge Bar Kempinski
Small and light pastries, accompanied by selected teas and light music in the background, that’s how it should be, and at the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt, this was exactly the opportunity. The new lobby, with the special bar, the various seating options that immediately offer a feeling of well-being and a special service – this is how one imagines “arriving at the hotel”.
Simply blocking out the stress at the airport and the meetings of the last few days for a few minutes, letting yourself fall into the heavy chairs – for me, this is also part of an “Afternoon Tea”, a “High Tea Ceremony”.
Procedure of a High Tea Ceremony
In a good tea house or a good hotel, there is at a High Tea Ceremony, in addition to a large selection of different teas, also staff who recommend and help accordingly – to find the perfect tea for the afternoon. So feel free to tell your preferences and wishes and be advised accordingly. I always discover teas that I would never have chosen myself.
After about 15-30 minutes you will receive an etagere with various delicacies and small pastries. Depending on the country and hotel, these are of course always somewhat different, both in the presentation and in the composition of the dishes.
However, the order is identical in most cases, the lowest tier is usually chosen for sandwiches and small dishes with bread, the middle tier is then followed by the traditional and usually still warm scones and the upper tier is then the sweet desserts.
I have to admit, a tea ceremony takes some getting used to – finding your inner peace and just enjoying it for once. After my wonderful experience with a High Tea Ceremony in Singapore, it is even nicer to now be able to experience this tradition in Germany.
Conclusion – High Tea Ceremony at K-Lounge Bar in Frankfurt
At the Kempinski Hotel Frankfurt Gravenbruch, it was the beginning of special days. While I enjoyed the Afternoon Tea, my luggage was already on the beautiful suite. Also once a special way to arrive. A luxurious shuttle service from Frankfurt airport to the hotel with an Italian sports car and then experience the new lobby and tea at the K-Lounge – perfect!
In the next few days I would like to introduce you to traditional Hessian cuisine with green sauce in an inn, an elegant dinner and of course star cuisine at Sra Bua by Juan Amador under the direction of Dennis Maier. Fittingly – a different way to experience Frankfurt and the City once, a small coffee shop and a special sushi restaurant.
However, a High Tea Ceremony will become more and more a part of a nice afternoon for me and maybe I will serve my own scones in the future.
