The name sounds promising – Restaurant Grill by the Pool – Greek cuisine – international meat and fish dishes and in addition a view of the blue pool, the beach and the evening sky. Greece is already nice and warm most of the time in April, plus a relaxing meal in a hotel restaurant? A restaurant – no – one of many restaurants in the Sani Resort in Chalkidiki and for the guests of the four hotels every evening, the free choice in which of the 17(!!) restaurants you want to dine.
Restaurant Grill by the Pool
My choice fell on the first evening on the “Restaurant Grill by the Pool”, which offers a Mediterranean cuisine with many fresh grilled dishes. As soon as the weather has reached a pleasant temperature, the windows to the pool are removed and you have an absolute “open air feeling”. The sea in the background to it and the vacation can begin.
The option with different restaurants is very successful, so no boredom arises and at the same time it is never crowded. Even if the hotel is not yet completely at 100% capacity at the start of the season (opening 2014 about 2 weeks ago, fully booked from May 1) – the Grill by the Pool is very popular.
It is possible to reserve a table for the evening free of charge (and is also recommended!) and take the regular half board there. There is a changing menu with different dishes, plus main courses with fish, meat or vegetarian. Alternatively, for a small extra charge, you can choose the dishes you want to eat that evening from the menu. I can only tell you that the compiled menu is already very nice, but I really felt like steak that evening.
Greek spices, freshly grilled meat and the sky, which slowly turned reddish for the sunset. A dream! If you now imagine temperatures in the evening around 28°C, the open terrace, a light breeze – and I think you too would have found your dream location for your summer vacation.
Steak Restaurant at the Sani Hotel
For me always, as when buying clothes 🙂 the biggest pain – when too much appeals to me. The selection on the menu sufficient but not restrictive. Everything looked directly appealing at first glance and a look at the neighboring tables confirmed my suspicions. It looks really good!
The decision then all the more difficult – but there I can really only give you an honest tip. Ask the staff and tell them what you like to eat. Let them really advise you and they will help you find the right dishes for your evening. I have done it no other way and as a result have often discovered dishes that I would not have chosen based on the menu.
You will also see with my order that I have been advised and was in the mood for a nice Greek evening.
Menu at Sani Restaurant Grill by the Pool
Maybe you will try it yourself and order the dishes I chose, I absolutely did not regret the decision. My dishes for the evening were:
- Beetroot Salad (Roasted Beetroot, Hazelnut, Apple, Goat Cheese, Sherry Vinaigrette)
- Beef Tartare (Poached Egg Yolk, Crostini)
- Oven Baked Egg (Potato Puree / Soutzouki)
- Rib-Eye (medium-r)
- Lamb Chops
- Side dishes: Fries and Macaroni & Cheese
- NY Cheesecake (yum!)
- Caramelized Dry Figs (Figs / Crumble / Yoghurt Ice Cream)
The really nice thing about a restaurant like Grill by the Pool is that the staff is open to your requests or questions and it is really the goal and especially the concept of the management to make your stay a positive experience.
Conclusion- Restaurant Grill by the Pool – Sani Resort, Griechenland
What sticks in my mind as the first memory of my stay at the Grill by the Pool restaurant at Sani Resort in Greece is an absolutely coherent concept, very friendly staff, good atmosphere and live Greek music. In addition, almost as important – a good quality of food, visually very nicely arranged and a really positive experience.
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Grill by the Pool restaurant at Sani Resort in Greece and would dine there again the next time I’m in the area. Luckily, I still have a few days at Sani Resort and may return again or test another of the 17 great restaurants…. Many sunny greetings from Greece…. V.
My next grill restaurant should not have a pool but lots of history….
