Is there anything nicer than to first sleep in a little on a Sunday and then go comfortably to dinner. No meal in bed, where the tray is always wobbly, the crumbs in the bed are subsequently, but a wonderful brunch. It’s already late for breakfast and you can take your time. Breakfast, lunch and a piece of cake right together…. – At Umami Restaurant Geneva.

In many places, brunch is becoming more and more popular and is itself added to the family tradition. During my time in Milan, I introduced you to brunch at the Four Seasons Hotel Milan (with the secret chocolate room), today I have the chance to introduce you to a brunch overlooking Lake Geneva from a Michelin-starred chef. The President Wilson Hotel in Geneva makes it possible…

Sunday Brunch at Umami Restaurant Geneva at the President Wilson Hotel

A wonderful tradition, families from Geneva meet, as in Milan, for birthdays, celebrations or just once – to be together cozy and “delicious”. The choice of tables adapted accordingly. From outdoor seating with a view of Lake Geneva and the sailboats on Sunday, whether inside, with the doors wide open in the tent area or at a long table, with all family members. The possibilities are endless, as they are later to retire comfortably to a couch by the pool for some quiet conversation. Enjoy precious time at Umami Restaurant Geneva.

The location just perfect! The view of Lake Geneva, not obstructed – but really a dreamlike, free view – valet parking in front of the door and also the landing stages of the boats not far away. The location fits – the food too?

Chef Michel Roth from the Ritz Hotel Paris

As with the Japanese dinner (with European influences) from top chef Michel Roth, brunch at Umami Restaurant Geneva offers a montage of the various restaurants at the Hotel President Wilson. From the star restaurant “Bayview”, to the Lebanese restaurant Arabesque, to the Japanese restaurant Umami.

At first glance, you could also call the offerings at brunch at the hotel “The best of”. A nice cross-section of the different restaurants and pleasantly arranged dishes. The bread always catches my eye first and it looked really tasty.

For me as a sushi fan, of course, the evening before in the Umami tested, dish could not be missing and so then began my personal brunch at the hotel and Umami Restaurant Geneva.

Cold dishes from the buffet and warm recommendations from the chef

One of the common weaknesses of a buffet in a restaurant is the temperature and freshness of dishes. Especially in the case of hot dishes, one often notices the warming stations, and pasta al dente, which was actually very well thought of, quickly turns into a fluffy version. The President Wilson has solved the risk in a pleasant way and offers various hot dishes, freshly prepared to order.

Just a few examples and suggestions from the chef:

  • Refreshed Tomato or Sweet Potato Soup
  • Creamy Risotto with Asparagus Tips and Chive Butter
  • Grilled Bass with Sweet Pepper, Courgette with Aioli Sauce thin Tart
  • Free-Range Poultry Breast fillet with morel mushrooms, gnocchi with aged cheese, Petite Arvine Sauce
  • Scrambled Eggs, Sausage and Bacon
  • Cheese Selection and its condiments

The waiting time between ordering and being served at the table was very pleasant, not too fast, but not too long either – plus the presentation of the food. Fantastic!

Conclusion – Sunday Brunch by Michel Roth at Umami Restaurant Geneva

I think if you’ve looked at the photos, you can already guess the conclusion for Sunday Brunch at Umami Restaurant in Geneva. I already mentioned the special quality of the food at dinner, now add to that the cross-section of the different restaurants at the President Wilson hotel.

If one sees of course the large selection of dishes, the special ambience, the almost unique view of Lake Geneva with the special service, one assumes of course also “special” prices and these I can confirm.

The price per adult is 75 CHF (approx. 61 EUR), for children between 6 and 12 years 40 CHF (approx. 32 EUR), children under 6 years are free. Compared to many other 5-star hotels that offer brunch, the price is extremely fair, even extraordinarily cheap for Switzerland.

In addition, there is a very attentive team, which is always very eager to fulfill every wish immediately, even spontaneous table changes of the guests are always made possible with a smile. The service is absolutely in the foreground and is an essential impression, in addition to the extraordinary food, which makes many residents of Geneva regularly choose the Umami at the President Wilson.

My personal conclusion is therefore also – for a brunch at Umami, I would also once again make the five-hour journey from Munich and would look forward to the various dishes. Maybe you will try it once too… <3
