There is hardly any restaurant that I associate so many fond memories with over the years as the Sra Bua Berlin Restaurant and Bar at the ADLON Hotel Kempinski in Berlin. Even though I’ve been there a few times in the past years, it still reminds me of a lovely evening with a very dear person I met for the first time for a “business dinner”. Dreamlike conversations, lots of laughs while eating well and being served well. Sra Bua Berlin always reminds me of that evening.

At the last ITB travel fair in Berlin we talked about this very evening and therefore I would like to take you to “my restaurant” in Berlin.

I would like to tell you why I liked it so much back then and why I always like to return.

If you know the pulsating life in Berlin, in front of the Brandenburg Gate the tourists experience, which make in the evening hours still the last photos and then the steps down into the restaurant, you experience another world.

A calm and balanced world and a piece of vacation in Asia.

Anyone who has been to Bangkok, Hong Kong or Singapore will recognize the style. Dark woods, comfortable seating with cushions and a view of a green oasis with trees and pleasant lighting. You just arrive and can enjoy the evening.

That’s how it was at the time of my first evening, we didn’t know each other at all and together we took advantage of the atmosphere in the restaurant and immediately got into the conversation.

The first look at the menu in the Sra Bua Berlin fell after 90 minutes and one decided then nevertheless spontaneously to be surprised by the kitchen and could observe from the seat, how the meals are prepared.

It is a way, especially in this day and age, that is wonderful and has caught on in more and more restaurants. A transparent kitchen – no secrets and always a nice distraction in the evening.

I’m always surprised at how quiet things are in many kitchens, and it was the same in the kitchen at Sra Bua.

As with my first visit to Sra Bua in front of the Brandenburg Gate, the restaurant is popular for business meetings, as well as for a nice evening with friends or family.

But also the cozy seating areas are suitable for a perfect and also a touch romantic evening with your partner. You sit not so distant from each other and can talk very well.

On this evening, I had first chosen an aperitif in the Sra Bua Bar and then let the staff surprise me again. I always find it nice when you think about what you can surprise a guest with and what would taste good.

The cuisine at Sra Bua Berlin is characterized by the Asian influences and and mixed with European influences. It is these moments that offer the special surprises and taste experiences.

Looking at the menu at Sra Bua Restaurant, I always find things that I definitely want to try once. The composition of the dishes always sounds fantastic and so I was also looking forward to my “surprise menu”, which I received again as a “share your plate”.

Having traveled abroad a lot, you just get used to sharing your dishes with people at the table. Lots of small bowls, lots of small plates and each guest gets to taste.

What in Asia belongs to the fixed part for a meal, is also a matter of course in the Sra Bua Berlin Restaurant.

It is also always these moments when the whole table is covered with dishes that I enjoy. The explanations to all the dishes and so I have become acquainted with the last few years many things that I otherwise would not have tried.

From experience, you often order things where you feel “safe” and the more beautiful were the moments of taste at my surprise menu.

Conclusion – Sra Bua Berlin by Tim Raue – Hotel Adlon

Even though I have already been to the Sra Bua Restaurant and Bar at the Adlon Kempinski Hotel in Berlin a few times, it is always a nice moment for me and is almost part of a visit to the German capital.

The restaurant and the attached bar simply offer everything you need for a perfect evening with friends or even with business partners. An interesting menu, very courteous and always friendly and guest-oriented staff and an atmosphere in which you can simply feel good.

When asked about my favorite on the menu, I can name so many different dishes. However, my personal favorite is always “Ruam Gan” – just sharing the menu with friends or business partners.

Maybe it was because of my first experience at Sra Bua Berlin Restaurant, which has turned into a very special relationship today, or because of my visits to Asia, but for me, an evening where you can take your time eating is always especially nice. Just try something again, talk again in between and enjoy the evening and then it can be very late in a very pleasant way….

It was certainly not my last visit to Sra Bua Berlin and I am already looking forward to my next Berlin visit… If you are now also interested in a nice evening at Sra Bua Restaurant by Tim Raue, a little tip… be sure to book a table (all dates in the info box above) and maybe we will see each other directly at the next visit…

If you want to visit a completely different Sra Bua Restaurant by Juan Amador, you will find the two star restaurant in the Kempinski Hotel in Frankfurt.

Update: The Sra Bua in the Adlon Hotel was closed, since then the location is used as an event location. To the current restaurants in the Adlon Hotel…
