Visit Aquadom Berlin the huge aquarium with elevator in a business hotel. You can even get married here in the Aquadom in special places in Berlin. It should no longer be the registry office in Berlin – but a special place, such as the TV tower at Alexanderplatz, on a romantic ride over the Spree or even in the dome at the Reichtstag – that is certainly possible, but with 1,500 fish in the aquarium as witnesses to the marriage and not get wet, that is certainly a special moment.

It was already a surprise during my hotel tour of the Radisson Hotel Blu Berlin on Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse that together with the attached Sealife there is also the possibility to find a special location for the wedding in Berlin. I would have so far still imagine to marry romantically in Berlin at the lake or on a ship in Berlin on the Spree or halt the somewhat “more boring” marrying in one of the Berlin registry offices (such as Pankow, Schöneberg or Mitte).
However, what I was then allowed to experience during the hotel tour, I found much more interesting and for the guests of the wedding also a special experience. The Radisson Hotel Blu offers together with the Sealife Center and the Union Investment (owner of the Aquadom), the possibility to rent and use this for special events. First the wedding ceremony with some guests in the elevator, organized by the registry office Berlin Mitte and then to the reception in the Dom Lounge of the hotel with a fantastic view over Berlin.
Especially for divers who do not want to take all family members to the wedding in the Caribbean, I was told, a great location – first the official wedding in Berlin in the Aquadom from Sealife and then the “personal” wedding in the Caribbean or the Maldives, Seychelles or in another diving paradise.
Glass elevator – 1 million liters of salt water – 2000 tons of weight
But the wonderful glass cylinder at the Radisson is not only suitable for weddings, but also for a regular ride and exploration of over 1,500 fish from 97 species. The cylinder alone is worth seeing when looking at the lobby at the Radisson Blu Berlin and actually can not be overlooked. However, it is said that there are still guests who stand in front of the reception and ask where the large glass aquarium is and do not see that it already begins directly above you. 🙂
The acrylic cylinder of the Aquadome has a diameter of 11 meters, a height of 16 meters and is 25 meters high in total with the frame. The cylinder was manufactured at a secret location and completely already brought over the roof into the then new building of the Radisson Blu Hotel in the Dom Aquarée. In any case, a very sight worth seeing.

The Sealife Berlin with the Aquadom has the following opening hours: Mondays through Sundays from 10am-1pm, with last admission at 6pm at the main entrance. Admission prices start online at 11.50 EUR up to 17.95 EUR at the main entrance. For hotel guests of the Radisson Blu Hotel, discounted discount tickets are available at the hotel reception, allowing direct access to Sealife.
For Berlin visitors who want to experience a little more of the capital, there are also combination discount tickets, then in conjunction with Madame Tussauds, Legoland Discovery Center or the Berlin Dungeon. Be sure to check the website of Sealife in Berlin in advance to be able to get the discounts as well.

In my opinion, Sealife and Aquadom as Berlin aquarium is an absolute sight to see, which is very suitable for individuals as well as families with children. A good combination is to start early in the morning with the Sealife, then enjoy an original Berlin Currywurst in the HEat directly on the Spree with a view of the Berlin Cathedral and then take a 1-hour cruise on the Spree. (Meeting point directly in front of the HEat at the Radisson Blu Berlin Hotel).
If you want the Aquadom and Sealife as a wedding location in Berlin, you will certainly find an unusual location and many opportunities for great photos, whether in the glass elevator with fish in the background or later in the Domlounge with a view over Berlin to the TV tower at Alexanderplatz. A nice experience to ride once with a round elevator through a glass aquarium.
Update: On December 16, 2022, the Aquadom, the large aquarium in Berlin burst and the now newly opened luxury-oriented Radisson Collection Hotel was then completely closed. There are no plans to rebuild the 16-meter-high aquarium. 630 fish of the 1500 fish could be saved after a million liters of salt water flowed through the lobby, restaurant and lower levels of the hotel and adjacent stores, as well as underground parking. It is believed to be due to material fatigue.
