Anyone who loves sushi will automatically have heard the term “Yunico Sushi” in the Rhineland. Especially if you are concerned with good cuisine, good restaurants and special taste experiences. Once you have tasted good sushi, after a short time, the desire to share a nice plate in the evening with friends always comes up.

It’s hard to imagine that a few years ago I didn’t eat fish at all, and now I look forward to an evening of sushi, and I’m always researching where to find a good sushi restaurant when I travel. So of course it was perfect to write a major feature on the Kameha Grand Hotel in Bonn, with one of the best four Asian restaurants in Germany. My personal impression of the Yunico Sushi at the Yunico Restaurant in Bonn:

If there is no good sushi at Yunico at the Kameha Grand Hotel in Bonn, where am I going to find good sushi in the Rhineland? Expectations for the kitchen under the direction of Christian Sturm-Willms are naturally very high, but 16 points in Gault & Millau and two chef’s hats, as well as already the award as “Chef of the Year 2013” for the now just 28-year-old chef are of course a clear confirmation.

In addition, there is the award from “Der FEINSCHMECKER”, where the Yunico Restaurant in Bonn was named “Surprise of the Year 2014/2015”, as well as being voted one of the four best Asian restaurants in Germany and awarded 3F.

After an interview with Christian Sturm Willms and Melanie Hetzel, as well as the Chefs Table with a multi-course menu fine dining restaurant, about which I have already reported in detail on my lifestyle blog, it was time that evening for a special sushi dinner.

Yunico Sushi in Bonn with Mitshiro Masutani

Directly in the entrance area the sushi counter, behind which the sushi master Mitsuhiro Masutani is completely in his element. Special creations, fresh fish everywhere and I can hardly wait until it starts.

Who wouldn’t want to learn from such a sushi master for their own creations and I remember back to my first attempts at sushi until you find the perfect size and rice. Sticky but not too sticky, the roll not too big and not too thin – but that evening in Bonn I just wanted to be a guest…. (and then maybe someday again a student…).

One look at the menu for the evening and at the latest now it was clear, it will be again a very special evening with many fresh ingredients and Sushi, as I was allowed to get to know it years ago in Asia and what has become one of my absolute favorite dishes.

Yunico Sushi Menu

Sushi

Salmon sashimi, sea bass, king mackerel, turbot, toro, tuna.

Mitzu Roll with char and wakame seaweed

Sweet shrimp

Eel, inside out (cucumber/tuna), ebi shrimp, king mackerel, turbot, sea bass, salmon, tuna back, “toro” tuna belly

Wasabi, two kinds of ginger

Every single creation perfect and really hard to determine your own favorite – I can only recommend you to choose your own favorites at a special sushi evening at Yunico at the Kameha Grand.

Conclusion – Yunico Sushi in Bonn with Mitshiro Masutani

Christian Sturm-Willms and Mitsuhiro Masutani, together with the entire kitchen team, once again succeed in creating a special evening and a great culinary journey. Just take your time, enjoy special food and let the evening end in a cozy atmosphere. Perfect!

For me is now quite clear, there is on the one hand sushi in the Rhineland and the “Yunico Sushi” – a whole other world and a special experience. I am looking forward to my next visits and experiences with my “Yunico Sushi” in Bonn.
