After a special dinner at La Veranda Restaurant on Saturday night, I was able to enjoy Sunday first and sleep in until 10:00, a rarity for me and after a few laps in the hotel pool, style myself up a bit for the “special brunch”.

At 12:30 sharp, I then appeared at the “Restaurant Il Teatro” a name that already sounds like a show, was received friendly and – as is customary at the Four Seasons Milan – there was first a “brunch guide”, so that you do not miss any delicacy.
Sunday brunch at Il Teatro restaurant is especially popular in Milan with the extended family, large round tables, 8-10 people, who often also brought birthday gifts, enjoyed the day and the get-together. Who would have thought that all the tables were reserved, so be sure to reserve in advance if interested.

A look into the courtyard, two curved staircases and the first difficult decision, do you want to pass the buffet on the left and take the first “sweet” dishes and cakes, ice cream and pastries or do you start “Italian” with anti-pasti, a small salad, different types of mozarella cheese or of course the good ham or a nice bruschetta.
Beautifully set tables with very nice bread specialties, a courteous staff and the desire to discover the other appetizers. Various egg dishes (including Eggs Benedict) personally prepared by the chef, a wide selection of fish specialties and oysters, tuna and sashimi – this is really how to spend a Sunday.

However, one of the real surprises at the Four Seasons Milan “hid” in the kitchen of the in the restaurant Il Teatro. Unlike many hotels where the kitchen area is sacred and never opened to guests, at the Four Seasons Milan, the kitchen is part of brunch as a permanent fixture. Past the places where in-room dining is prepared for guests in their rooms, the “hot” buffet begins in the second kitchen area.
A selection of pizza and corn polenta, past set tables (in the kitchen, like a starred restaurant), to various hot dishes, from meat dishes, to soups, to an original Italian lasagna in small pieces. Here I could have spent hours from the selection.
What was also immediately noticeable in the kitchen of the in the restaurant Il Teatro – every employee was extraordinarily friendly and helpful and every question about the food was answered and explained immediately and promptly. If the omelet should be small, it was no problem, if one had questions about the salmon or tuna, these were answered quickly and extensively. At no time did one have the feeling of disturbing the staff at the various stations or that the request could not be fulfilled.

Of course, those who have known me and my blogs for a few years now know that in addition to coffee, I always have a great “weakness” for beautiful desserts, whether cake or Italian ice cream, whether tiramisu or a crème brûlée. Of course, I had to try extensively – but selected – for you with the desserts. I just couldn’t help myself and I knew that another “secret” of the hotel and Il Teatro would be waiting for me…
Only when I’m done with my various appetizers, hot dishes or desserts, I wanted to get on the trail of the secret, there is supposed to be in the restaurant Il Teatro a room – which automatically changes the face when you enter – it sounds a little mystical, a little mysterious and yet so interesting that I went in search of clues…. and I found it – it’s true – it changes the guest within seconds…. and I will tell you about it next time…
