When is the best time to post on Instagram?

In general, it’s safe to say that most people use their smartphones when they’re on the go to work, school, and on their way back home. It’s best to post between 6am and 8am, at 12pm for lunch, or between 5pm and 8pm for the most reactions. The best time to post is after 5 p.m., as fewer people are in a good mood in the morning and prefer to consume rather than react.

When is the best day to post on Instagram?

It is best to post on Instagram at 5pm on Saturday, otherwise Monday, Wednesday and Thursday have proven to be good days for reactions as many seek entertainment on these days. Sundays are the worst day for social media.

Looking through the various social media portals, there are countless tips and tricks on how to supposedly get more followers and likes and I can only advise quite seriously against it – buying followers. It brings you absolutely nothing, except perhaps for your actual EGO, but certainly no credibility and after many conversations with PR agencies and companies, for months now cooperation decisions are often no longer about the pure followers, but the engagement factor is evaluated much more intensively.

What good is a blogger with 50,000 followers on Instagram who only gets 60 or 100 likes. An engagement rate for fashion bloggers below 1.5-2% per image and few comments is simply striking and permanently discourages collaborations. Add to that the eventual and serious crash when Instagram in particular deletes ghost and fake followers once again.

A crash of 75% of the followers is said to have already given some bloggers bad problems in the credibility and a spontaneous growth of 5,000 or in some blogger communities with 20,000 – 40,000 followers in 4 weeks is also already a “miracle”… 🙂 #irony!

Social media channels mean two things – just like fitness or a diet! Endurance and fitness! It certainly doesn’t help if you are particularly active on the channels one day and not at all on other days.

The “social media life” turns every day and so should your channels. If you can’t completely divide your time between all the networks, then pick out one or two networks that you primarily want to play on and focus on them.

You may be forgiven for not posting for a day, but you will certainly lose some reach and exposure. Just as blogposts should be regular, photos and information should be uploaded to your channels at the same times. Sure, there are certain tolerances, but for networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat, there are certain best times to post that will get the most likes and you new followers.

But when are the best times to post on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. What times should you schedule your posts for Instagram and Facebook, and should you upload just one picture a day, or should you upload several photos a day?

Best times to post on Instagram for more followers

For best times to post on Instagram, you should always consider how many pictures do you want to post regularly per day and when can you schedule it. If you want to regularly upload pictures of your breakfast, you should obviously choose times when breakfast is expected. The likelihood of your “national” followers liking breakfast in the evening is certainly less than posting in the morning, even though fewer followers will be online.

Instagram recommends uploading 3-5 pictures per day, which is also way too much in my opinion. But what’s more important, besides the three to five photos, is the gap between photos, which should be at least three to four hours.

When are the best times to post on Instagram? If you start with the first photo at 8 a.m. in the morning, you could then upload photos at 4-hour intervals at 12 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., for example. If you already choose a five hour interval, it would still be 13:00 and 18:00.

For me, I try to upload between two and three fashion pictures for my account @vanessa.pur and thus also get the most new followers and still have some time to like my stream or also comment on pictures of people I follow. I upload my pictures mostly around 09 o’clock, at 15 o’clock and 20 o’clock – but also primarily, as it fits into my daily routine. I don’t quite stick to best times to post.

If you only want to upload one picture, the recommended time for Instagram channels in Central Europe is between 5pm and 8pm. Just find out in the time slots when you get the most likes.

Best times to post on Facebook for more followers

Best times to post on Facebook it shapes up a little differently to get more followers and likes or interactions on with the posted content and it depends significantly more on your communities and followers.

Special Facebook blog post:

10 Tips for a Successful Facebook Fan Page – What times should I post to Facebook and how do I get more followers?

While for some channels early posting on weekdays between 07.30 and 09.30 works very well, for me these are particularly weak times. My community is not active before 13.00 (due to many American and Canadian followers). Postings always work well in the time between 13.00 and 16.00 – and then again from 18.00 to 20.00.

It is always also little dependent on when is posted and especially what is posted. Short video clips usually always get fewer likes than a photo, but a much larger reach. The growth for new followers is strengthened by interesting videos and also short SNAPs work very well also on Facebook.

The best time for photos and videos is Sunday between 1pm and 4pm – plus there is the weather influence. If it rains after a few sunny days, the Likes are automatically higher. If the weather is consistently bad over many days, the Likes and comments also drop again. Those who have set up their Facebook community internationally can then benefit from this, as bad weather is not present everywhere.

A surprising time for less reach and likes is weekdays between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., when many people are on their way home and yet use their smartphone less for Facebook than for Instagram, for example (see above). Pictures on Instagram get a much higher engagement rate at 5pm than a picture on Facebook.

Best times to post on Twitter for more followers

Best times to post on Twitter is different again, because Twitter is often used when you don’t want to spend as much time online or also when special TV shows are shown on the network (depending on your community). Often, some series are also fun to watch only after you’ve tuned into the Twitter channel with the appropriate #hashtag. Even if the presenter is doing badly, with the right Twitter accounts, it can be a lot of fun and instead of getting angry at the person, you have reasons to be in a good mood.

Twitter is always consumed when other networks are on break, especially in Germany people often tweet and retweet more when other networks are on break. Many tweets and favs occur in the early morning hours between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., during the lunch break, and shortly after the end of work or school.

Just try it out and use exactly these gaps a little bit or look once at the Twitter feeds during the well-known shows like “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, “Bachelor”, “Germanys Next Topmodel”, “Let’s dance” and also so you get very quickly a lot of followers for Twitter. Always react to current events and leave qualified comments. Best times to post on Twitter is whenever you have something to say. Twitter is defiantly time consuming, but it can also be a very good network for contacts.

Best times to post on Pinterest for more followers.

With Pinterest, you notice the slightly different orientation in the German market. You don’t just look at the streams of the people you follow as you often do in American networks, but you look more thematically. The latest interior ideas, “how do I rearrange my kitchen” or “what styling ideas are there for a living room”.

Pinterest is used in Germany when you have time and therefore the known best times to post are also very successful for me to get more followers and likes on Pinterest. You can reach most people on Pinterest on weekends when you have time – mostly Saturdays and Sundays between 1pm and 5pm.  Never post too many images to Pinterest at once, but rather one piece at a time. If I have countless “kitchen inspirations” from the same person just on my screen, I’m much less likely to follow.

Best times to post on Snapchat for more followers

Best times to post on Snapchat is shaped by the times somewhat different than the previous networks. Among other things, this is also related to the significantly younger user base. According to many figures and statistics from Snapchat, over 70% of users are female, the viewer group is often between 13-19 years old and this also explains frequent video views at other times.

Best times to post for most views (always depending on your community) are usually between 7am and 8am, between 1pm and 4pm and often again in the evening between 8pm and 10pm and I also notice it in my views. If you post actual snaps at these times, the overall reach of the snaps is simply higher because you are more often at the top of the lists of followed people and your followers notice you more often.

Don’t tell the whole story you’re experiencing once a day, but take your followers with you and report on the different events several times throughout the day. Even if I unfortunately don’t always succeed in actively taking you along to every event due to time constraints, I notice myself that if you regularly share current news throughout the day, the views increase extremely and the followers also increase significantly faster. Snapchat currently still lives on “word-of-mouth” and good Snaps are also shared with friends and recommendations are made.

Sometimes you just want to take Snapchat as a supplement to the current things to do and I also like to do it. I have recently taken you several days with the whole YouTube videos “live”, so you could see the outfits already before they go online in the next few days on the channels and just as you could be practically “live” at the shooting with the TV teams. Between the big TV cameras every once in a while a snap for you….

Conclusion – Best times to post on Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, Facebook and social media for more followers.

As much as you stick to best times to post, there are three golden rules in particular for getting more followers and likes on social networks Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Snapchat that help immensely to get more activity and real followers:

Regularity – not only uploading your own content, but also actively commenting, liking and also sharing interesting news. The social networks are there for that – to share with each other.
Perseverance – the miracle will not happen on the first day and you will not get 10,000 real and active followers. If you are regularly active in the networks and also listen to what the followers want, want to know, etc., you will also get a good and active channel in the long run
Try it out – my experiences and the individual recommendations are of course only guidelines for you, if your networks are composed completely differently, you will find possible deviations. Then just look if all postings develop differently at the times and orientate yourself on your values.

I hope I could give you some tips for best times to post and something more fun for the networks and look forward to your experiences.
