Convenient Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Station for iPhones in review as Qi charger. At the latest since the presentation of the new smartphones from Apple in September 2017, it became clear – the devices can now also be supplied with power via wireless charging. What has been possible for Android devices for some time, is now also possible in iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and of course in iPhone X. Future devices, such as the iPhone 9, iPhone 9 and of course the premium smartphone iPhone X2 will also get this feature. Wireless charging of smartphones is being integrated into everyday life.

As Apple has already announced at the presentation of the new smartphones, there will be its own charging station with Qi technology in the future, but currently recommends the charging stations from Belkin.
If you take a look at the wireless charging stations in an Apple store, such as on Königsallee in Düsseldorf, the new Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Station integrates directly into the Apple world.
Compared to some of the devices we reviewed and featured in conjunction with Android smartphones a year or two ago, Belkin’s charging station is significantly larger and features a 7.5 watt coil, which should allow for faster charging.
The packaging is almost “Apple-typical” in white and very plain, that device fits directly into the elegant environment of the Apple world and is very cleanly made. Unlike many other charging stations, the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Station has its own power supply and a charging cable of 150 centimeters in length.
At first glance, the station already looks very valuable and not like a small plastic tray like many other stations. The diameter of the station is about 11.5cm, with a height of about 1.5cm, in addition, the base of the station is covered with a rubber, so that an accidental slipping (eg on the bedside table or desk) can not occur. (Many other stations only have a contact surface of about 9cm and no protection against slipping).
While many cheap charging stations only charge the smartphone with 5W, the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Station has a power of 7.5W, which speeds up the charging process a bit (circa 15-20%) and is absolutely silent. Those who are worried about their precious smartphone due to the higher power can rest assured, as Belkin will take appropriate liability in case of damage caused by excessive heat to the smartphone.
–> Note: To use the higher charging power with the smartphone, an iOS version V11.2 or higher must be installed.

According to Belkin, the charging of the smartphone also works with a plastic protective cover (ideally up to 3mm thick), but thicker protective covers for the smartphone still work without problems. However, the charging process is slightly delayed with thicker smartphone protective cases.
Likewise, Qi technology naturally makes it possible to charge all current smartphones that have Qi wireless charging technology (such as Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S9+, Samsung Galaxy Note8, Motorola Z2 Play, Sony Xperia XZ2) with Belkin’s new station as well. Thus, the device can also be placed very well in the family, for example, in the living room and quickly supply the smartphones with energy again in the evening.
What clearly sets the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Station apart from many competitors is the integrated heat sensor. Anyone who took their Android smartphone off a charging station years ago could feel how hot the device was and usually left it on the desk for a few seconds first. The Belkin station has a built-in heat sensor that interrupts the charging process when the temperature is too high for the smartphone and turns the station off to prevent damage to the smartphone.
For this purpose, the charging status can be seen on the Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Station compared to many other stations via two LEDs (green/orange). If the device is in the process of charging, the LED lights up green, while the LED lights up orange if the device is incorrectly supported.
CONCLUSION – Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charging Station for iPhones in review – Qi charger.
Certainly, the current Belkin Boost Up charging station with 7.5 watts of power consumption for the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X is a bit higher in price than simple competitors. Currently, you can get the new Belkin Boost Up wireless charging station for a price of about 60 EUR.
However, anyone who buys a smartphone for almost 1,000 EUR or even far above (iPhone X / iPhone X2) should definitely not skimp on a reliable charging solution for their device. Thanks to the built-in heat sensor and Belkin’s insurance against overheating of the devices, the Belkin Boost Up Station stands out very positively from many competitors.
15-20% faster charging is a very nice extra, plus the classy design and perfect integration into the Apple world. We charge all our devices in the office via Belkin’s stations and we can highly recommend the station even after the first few weeks.
