Experience Sylt sights Top 5 with List and Uwe Düne with the BMW X6 5.0i to the island tour. A city tour or island tour has in many resorts often to do with a big red double-decker bus or a small train, many tourists next to each other and no trace of individual. That it goes completely differently and one can experience SYLT with style, the BUDERSAND hotel in Hörnum showed me. A personal island tour with style in a BMW X6 5.0i and in addition a small lunch package and travel tips, completely tailored to my own wishes. Just enter the coordination into the navigation system and the exploration of the island can begin.
Luxury car BMW X6 5.0i and packed lunch for the island tour
After a fantastic breakfast with sea view at the BUDERSAND Hotel, I received from the friendly staff a small folder with recommendations, a small packed lunch and more detailed descriptions for the round trip. No fixed, strict schedule – more a list of the top Sylt sights that are not necessarily in every guidebook. For the first day, I set my sights on the following spots in List and Kampen.
Best Sylt Sights Top 5 island tour with a BMW X6
Top 1 “Ellenbogen” – a narrow peninsula – Sylt sights.
The “Ellenbogen” means elbow and is a nature reserve and bird sanctuary and practically the northernmost point of Germany, the Danish coast just four kilometers away. The last road to the coast is private land and drivers have to pay a 5.00 EUR toll, which is absolutely worth it. Where else has the opportunity to be warned of free-roaming sheep by his BMW X6 5.0i 🙂
The rest of the national park, pure, untouched nature, dunes, sea and especially a lot of wind and space. Just standing once on the beach, noticing how the wind blows and then thinking back to the sentences of the golf instructor “Wind is only when the sheep have no more curls…” – so there was no wind yet.
Directly at the first visit of the Sylt sights in the “elbow” I fell in love with the special nature and could have driven every day again the route from Hörnum to List and certainly not only because of the great driving experience in the BMW X6 5.0i… 🙂
Top 2 Listland with the Sylt Sahara – Sylt Sightseeings
One of the top Sylt sights and a very special area on SYLT – the white dunes shift between 6 and 12 meters per year and move from west to east. Three of these dunes are still completely unplanted and are under nature protection. It is hard to imagine that earlier dunes completely buried the villages of Alt-Rantum and Alt-List. A clear recommendation for your individual tour of Sylt sights on one of the most beautiful German islands.
Top 3 Oystermeyer – Hafenstraße 10-12 – List
Those of you who have always wanted to try very fresh oysters will find a perfect place to go in List. Austernmeyer breeds the “Sylter Royal” directly off the coast in the Blidsel Bay. It could hardly be fresher and I also have to admit, in the beginning I was not convinced of a good oyster, but with time, one knows to appreciate a – good – oyster in dinner…. just try it once. If not at Austernmeyer, then where on Sylt?
Top 4 harbor of List – Sylt attractions
A perfect end to the afternoon then offers the port of List. The combination of Scandinavian stalls and a modernized harbor invite visitors to stroll even in the off-season.
Why not try a fish roll in Germany’s northern fish stall at “Gosch”. Just stroll through the old barrel hall once, but watch water the small ferries that go to Denmark. I also got myself a nice fish roll, sat down on one of the numerous benches and just enjoyed the late sun once…
Top 5 Uwe Düne – Sylt attractions
After leaving List, I just had to make a special stop in Kampen in the afternoon, passing Strönwai, the famous whiskey mile, to the highest platform of Sylt – the “Uwe Düne”. With a height of 52 meters you have a fantastic view over Sylt and the North Sea. As soon as you have climbed the steps, you are rewarded with the vastness of nature, the imposing view and the numerous colors. I was not at all clear about what view would await me from the “Uwe Düne” – but I was fascinated.
Conclusion – Sylt sights Top 5 with List and Uwe Düne island tour
Sylt has simply also captured and fascinated me. The untouched nature, the great dunes and the wind. So I imagine a vacation at the North Sea simply and had to interrupt the return trip once again for a breathtaking sunset in Westerland.
But Westerland, Rantum, Keitum and Hörnum were on my agenda for another day. Then I swapped the BMW X6 5.0i for the BMW M6 Gran Coupe and also made a stop at the Sansibar.
A fantastic day with great travel tips from the Budersand Hotel, a very good to drive BMW perfect for a day at the elbow with the rough terrain, could only be topped by a special dinner.
I chose to enjoy the view of the tranquil mudflats in the distance, a view over the golf course and indulge in some light and fresh bistro cuisine. I was sure that I would be in good hands with chef Jens Burkardt and his team at Strönholt Restaurant, right next to my hotel – the Budersand – but I’ll tell you more about that soon…
