Compact system camera for travel bloggers on the road with the CANON EOS M10. If you are a travel blogger who is often on the road, wants to or has to pay attention to the weight of his equipment, for example on a backpacking trip, you are often looking for a small compact camera where lenses can be changed, but many things are kept very compact.
CANON introduced the new CANON EOS M10 a few months ago, which uses the familiar APS-C image sensor of the CANON EOS100D, but is much smaller. Of course, you can’t compare the camera with the SLR cameras CANON EOS 1D, 5D, 7D, 80D – but that shouldn’t be the test environment either.
Compact system camera for travel bloggers – Canon EOS M10 review
The new Canon EOS M10 system camera from CANON has an RRP of less than 400 EUR and is thus especially aimed at recreational photographers who value beautiful optics and good image quality for spontaneous vacation shots. The white glossy casing looks classy and very eye-catching at the same time. The camera is often directly addressed.
In contrast to the previous model, the CANON EOS M10 has a new image sensor (Digic 6 instead of Digic 5) with a resolution of 18 megapixels at a sensor size of 14.8 mm × 22.2 mm. The autofocus in the new model works with 49 focus points, twice as many points as the previous model. The speed of the autofocus is a bit sluggish, but sufficient for a system camera in the price segment.
The Canon EOS M10 system camera from CANON comes with the EF-M 15-45mm (f3.5-6.3) IS STM lens. Due to the STM motor, video recordings are also possible without annoying noise.
The Canon EOS M10’s video function is available at Full HD at 30fps, or 60fps at HD resolution. To shoot a follow-me-around video, the camera is very suitable, the upward folding screen with a diagonal screen size of 7.5cm gives a good overview for this and is also suitable for YouTube beginners in the inexpensive set.
The various creative programs are suitable for the recreational photographer, and you can also find the camera’s various setting options on the touch screen at the same time. The separate on/off switch is used to select the camera program, the video program, and the automatic functions.
A big advantage of the CANON EOS M10 system camera is the direct connection with the smartphone. Via the NFC connection, the camera can be directly paired and the photos were transferred for current networks, such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and the like. Of course, reading out the pictures in the usual way is still possible.
The included CANON EF-M lens with a focal length of 15-45mm provides good results for amateur photographers and can later also be exchanged for lenses with a different exposure. For starters, you are optimally equipped to get started right away and capture your first photos and videos.
Compact system camera Canon EOS M10 – CONCLUSION
The whole operation of the camera is very intuitive. You take the camera in your hand and can immediately try out a few pictures to get a feel for it. You feel the value of the camera and are often quickly impressed by the white optics. So handy and so clean – something you like to carry in your handbag or visibly on your body. Stylish and good features for taking quick photos or videos on the go with little thought. As noted in many tips, content is often more important than the best quality when it comes to photos and videos. Sometimes it’s all about quick access, and that’s really fun here.
If you’re interested in an entry-level system camera, you can’t go far wrong with the stylish Canon EOS M10 system camera for an MSRP of 399.00 EUR.
