Editing and reply to Instagram Direct Messages in browser on Instagram is a significant simplification. Especially those who want to work in a very structured way answer the direct messages on Instagram, as DMs similar to emails. Until now, the problem was that you could only reply to Instagram Direct Messages via your smartphone or tablet, or via Facebook (if linked).
Instagram Direct Messages for contact requests
Instagram has now become the contact request system for many businesses and brands. Unfortunately, however, many companies don’t notice the small and quick requests on a day-to-day basis. It’s only when the social media team has time to post again that the request is noticed. At least, this is more often the case with smaller companies.
In the meantime, it is possible to set notifications for the receipt of Instagram Direct Messages, but the response remains so far laborious via the smartphone variants. At the same time, a short reply often helps with the short inquiries. The fact that many influencers have even deactivated the option for people they don’t follow only shows that the option really is used extremely often.
Reply to Instagram Direct Messages in browser
Another tip that makes social media easier in everyday life is the new browser feature for Instagram. Instagram is again working on a solution to not lose the fun of the app. Again and again you can find the best tips for Instagram and Instagram Stories on my blog.
Since a short time there is now also the possibility in the browser (Google Chrome/Safari) to edit Instagram Direct Messages without additional plugins. The function is currently being released piece by piece. On one of my accounts, the new direct message icon has already been added to the top right and all messages are clearly displayed and can be processed chronologically.
Answer Instagram Direct Messages on your PC
Finally, you can sit normally at your desk and answer Instagram Direct Messages via keyboard. Time-saving and for many companies it solves the “cell phone” issue. No longer do you have to think about who has the social media smartphone at the moment and whether marketing or the front desk of a hotel shouldn’t write the response instead. Now, several browsers can log into the Instagram profile and thus also spontaneously answer questions under a post.
Anyone who does all their Instagram communication via Instagram Direct Messages per day will see this step for Instagram Direct Messages as a significant reduction in workload. In this day and age, DM and PN are used for all communication for many users.
As is so often the case with Instagram, changes are rolled out to accounts gradually and can also be discontinued at a later date. On our travel account, the feature is not yet enabled, but on some Instagram users – especially probably with Creator profiles, the feature is rolled out.
On one of the attached accounts the direct message icon is present, on another account the icon has not been deposited yet (Identical browser / both profiles deposited as Creator profiles).
Of course, Instagram never knows how the changes are rolled out – whether it depends on the number of followers, the number of daily Instagram direct messages or simply at random. There is no statement from Instagram on this – as of course almost always the case.
Hopefully, Instagram will roll out this new Instagram Direct Messages feature to all accounts and all internet browsers in the next few weeks, as it can simply make things a lot easier for larger accounts or agencies – especially if you don’t want to share your Facebook account with other participants or colleagues.
Personally, I still prefer to use the option to read and respond to Instagram Direct Messages via Facebook, though I do like normal email requests for my blogs even better. But for businesses and hotels I find the solution really successful and I am curious what Instagram will change in the future. I’m sure Instagram will grow together with Facebook even more.
